This launched yesterday to my knowledge for my country (Canada) and it's to the first of my knowledge today. Now in google maps, you can view the location...AND use this street view option to see your exact street! Because I'm very keen on privacy, I checked my house, and luckily for me it doesn't show up in google street view (Yay for me). Google's street view camera is "not in real time". I checked, and zoomed into my house as much as I can and saw it's an outdated picture. I'm glad it's not updated day by day or else I fear for privacy.
How outdated is the pic?: It showed our house with no plants growing on this area with an open window, while right now for the last few days, we have a lot of green onion plants sprouting and no open windows due to coldness.
What's your intake on this? Street view is only available in these areas. http://gmaps-samples.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/streetview_landing/streetview-map.html
I find the best for this is that I can explore places I want to see without traveling, but do not like how it zooms in on our exact street for privacy reasons.

| I did this on Google Earth a few years ago, and the picture was WAY outdated; we still had a big white van in the driveway and a trampoline in the backyard. Now there's no trampoline (trashed after the neighbor broke his arm on it) and my mom has an Accord, not a Suburban.
Still cool, though. 8] | |

| It's great for exploring big named places. So how outdated is the pic on your house now ES? | |

| Ehh, well, my friend's dad gave us the Suburban quite a while ago... maybe 5-7 years? Something like that. It's really old. It was before I was in fifth grade. | |

| My house is non-exsistant on Google Earth. Just a hill with tall grass. I like looking at the islands shaped like things. I hear they are making one of the globe. | |

| CREEPERCREEPERCREEPER.
Seriously, though, people from my school have looked up my address on Google Earth before. I was incredibly, disturbingly alarmed. I wonder if you can get the Google Earth people to take your house off if you don't want it there. But then what would it be? Just a big blank space on the map? Hmmmm....

That's my little pet peeve on this. You just never know who is looking at your house or want to see how it looks like. I find it good for online stalkers to get familiar with your area, so never give out your addresses to them online.. - Quote :

I rather it show a house that isn't mine just so it'd confuse other people.
