[Purple Heart Event] The Truth?

Chase, adorned in winter garb, sighed as he walked through the abandoned meadow. When there was no event to attend, the field was often abandoned, but he liked the open space and tranquilty that overtook the place.

Winter was ending soon, hopefully, and the snow would soon melt. But, until that happened, Chase was slowly learning to smile at himself again. Trying to prove a point to himself, he laid down on the wet ground, splaying his arms and legs in a starfish shape in the snow.

I could make a snow angel, it occured to him, and he laughed out loud. Deciding to do just that, like he used to do with his sister when it snowed, he moved his limbs, spreading snow beneath him.

Mia walked through the calm snow; at ease. A welcome change from a snow storm. She thought happily to herself; enjoying the tranquility of the moment.

For once, she had actually listened to Chase's advice, and brought a warm Hooded jacket. It was thin, but surprisingly warm.
Hood up; she sauntered down through the fields of white with her hands in her pockets.


Wait a minute...
Mia peered down the field; seeing something splayed out in the snow.
Is that... Chase?

Quietly; she walked up to Chase; a soft smile set on her face in absence of her usual, cheesy grin.

Chase heard someone approach and angled his head. "Mia!" he exclaimed warmly, sitting up in the snow. Flakes fell off of his back as he did so, but his coat was still caked in the wet stuff. He attempted to brush it off with a hand as he squinted at Mia, ever-closer as she took one step after another. "You're wearing a jacket today," he commented. As soon as she got close enough, he reached for her, lightning-fast, and grabbed her arm, pulling her down on the snow with him.

"Hi," he said, laughing.

Mia cried out, and giggled cheerily as Chase pulled her down into the snow.
Pulled her Hood back behind her neck; she felt the cold air rush through her hair again; entwining delicate snowflakes into the black locks and onto her neck.

"Why, hello there, sir Chase!" She greeted, a bright smile on her face again.
Chase's back and arms were wet; and lined with a thin layer of powdery snow.

"Deary me, how did you manage that?" She giggled, brushing a little snow off Chase's shoulder. This, by far, was the happiest she'd seen Chase yet.

Chase inhaled deeply, and exhaled again. "Spring is coming soon. I can just feel it." He flopped back down on the snow and resumed making his snow angel. "So I'm living it up while I can." He spat a bit of snow out of his mouth, which was kind of pointless, seeing as it would've melted within seconds. "I normally hate winter. Way too cold."

He sat back up again, suddenly charged. "Come on! Make a snow angel! Lighten up!" he urged, pulling on Mia's jacket. "I know you've got it in you."

Mia nodded; she wasn't too fond of the Winter either. Too slippery, too stormy. She was still a little shaken from the Snowstorm.

Spring sounded very promising.

"Hmmm..." She mused, pausing for drama.
Then, she simply fell backwards into the snow, feeling the cold, moist powder on her back. She quickly crafted the frame of an Angel into the snow, before sitting back up again and shaking the snow out of her hair.

"There." she giggled.
The two Snow Angels lay side by side, embedded in the powdery snow.

Chase reached over and brushed snow out of Mia's hair. "Yours is better than mine," he pretended to sulk. Carefully standing up so to avoid mussing up his less-than-perfect snow angel, which was slightly deformed on the left side, thanks to his bulky overcoat, he grinned down at Mia before offering her his hand. "I bet I look like a yeti," he laughed, shaking his head to get the snow off of himself.

Mia giggled sprightly; her classic grin on her face again.

"Rarrrl!" She growled; taking Chase's hand and standing up.
"Best Yeti ever." She confirmed, nodding gamely. Wiping some powdery snow from her cheeks; she felt snow constantly bury itself in her hair and slide down her neck. It was a little irritating, but none the less.

Her back was wet from the snow; and, much like Chase's, coated in a layer of fragile snow. It was cold, but it didn't really matter.

Standing up, Chase brushed powder off of his black winter jacket, shaking his head to get the snow out of his hair, too. "Brr," he said, rubbing gloved hands against his arms. "Spring can't get here soon enough." He looked around the otherwise empty, undisturbed field, and wondered what to do next.

Inspiration hit him all at once, and he swiveled around, grinning at Mia. "Let's build a snowman," he suggested, enthusiastic. "I haven't done that since I was, like, six."

Mia smiled as Chase's face lit up like a Christmas Tree.
"A Snowman, huh? Sure!" She giggled; rubbing her hands together for a little warmth.

Snowmen were probably the most iconic symbol of childhood Winters; along with hot chocolates and Marshmallows. It was immensely nostalgic; bringing back wave after wave of smiling snowmen as she crafted the snow with Chase.

Twitching her nose a little bit; she gently swept the powdery snow off her face.
The Snowman was starting to gain a bit of form; the two's work was slowly catching the bulbous shape of a cute old snowman.

Working in tandem, both Chase and Mia managed to compact a small ball of sticky white powder, which grew in size as they rolled it around on the ground. Tiny pieces of debris were scattered through the white, breaking perfection, but not hindering the development of the progressing sphere. Chase was glad he wore mittens; even through the wool, he could feel chilliness radiating off of the snow.

When the bottom part of the snowman was sufficiently large, he eyed the meadow for a decent place to position the jolly old symbol of innocence and creativity during a bleak month. "Now, the next part," he announced, scooping up a fistful of powder and pressing it between his palms. Tiny imprints of the lines in his mittens grooved in the snowball in his hands, but he paid that no mind. Handing it to, not throwing it at Mia, he said, "See how big you can make the middle."

Mia smiled warmly, gently taking the delicate ball of snow in her fingers so not to crush or crumble it. She fine snow had a biting chill to it, but she simply ignored the cold and worked more snow onto the quickly growing ball.

Her fingers were shivering and blue, and when she wiggled her toes inside her runners, she felt only a numb tingling; but still, she worked happily with Chase on the snowman's torso.

"Our snowman is awesome." Mia deemed with a grin; ignoring the fact that it hadn't even been finished yet.

Chase laughed. "How can it even be remotely describable yet? It's unfinished, and thus undeserving of adjectives." He tapped his temple with a finger, and said, "Logic, my dear. As of right now, our snowman is nothing more than an accumulation of mush." He stepped back, looked at it again, and added, "A very well put together accumulation of mush, though." He flicked pieces of slush off of his gloves and in Mia's general direction.

"Oh, shut up," Mia giggled; holding her hands up in feeble defence from the spray of snow. "It's an awesome clump of snow."

Smiling, she shook her head like a dog ridding it's fur of water, spots of snow flying from her hair and everywhere around her.
"You and your unyielding logic." She doubled over for drama, adding a tragic tone to her voice as if reciting some weepy play from Shakespear.

"Trying to sound smart, Mia?" Chase grinned. "Shakespeare isn't lost on me." He patted another handful of snow onto the wet, cold torso of the snowman and said decisively, "I think it's time to build the head. Oh, wait." He poked three small holes in the torso, about the size of his palm, and explained, "There. Now he has buttons. NOW we can build the head."
