Skies [Reserved for Chase & Mia]

Across the rooftops Mia ran, wind whipping through her hair as she sped across, flying over gaps and ducking under pipes. It felt great to be up in the skies again.

The building she'd fallen from wasn't far from where she was, and she veered sharply in the other direction. She wouldn't go too high for a week or two, to make sure she was completely up to par.

The line of buildings ended quite soon. The end rushed up to meet her as she ran.
She skidded to a halt at the very edge, feeling the momentum fall straight from her as the speed drained.

Mia had to wonder if hearing footsteps on your roof was getting normal for the townsfolk, though nobody seemed to complain.

It didn't take a rocket scientist for him to figure out what the tapping on his roof was.

Chase had simply been in his store, sitting at the register and adding up some of the receipts when he heard the noise. He had been confused for only a second, but it had clicked in his mind. Wonder mixed with worry in a dizzied whirlpool in his mind as he stood up and hurriedly walked to the door, standing outside on the porch with his hand acting as a shade above his eyes while he peered above the rooftops, looking for what he knew was there, he just knew it.

Mia heard the click of a door opening, and briefly poked her head down from the roof. Quite wobbly, as one would expect, hanging upside down from a ledge.
She caught sight of Chase walking out of the doorframe, causing her to realise that she'd actually stopped at his shop.

God, Mia. She thought to herself, Way to be a stalker.
She jumped back from the ledge, wondering if Chase had seen her.
It probably didn't matter if he'd seen her or not, actually, she couldn't supress giggles.

He smiled when he saw the shadow, lined against the sun and casting more shadows still on the ground. He lifted his hand and was about to wave when the figure jumped back, hiding behind the ledge on the roof. "Come out, come out, wherever you are," he called, covering his eyes with his hands. He grinned. "Don't make me come up there."

Mia grinned and stayed put.
"I dare you to." She called back, giggling uncontrollably. There was something about hiding that always made her giggle like a schoolgirl, and it always gave away her hiding place.

She walked back to the ledge and sat herself down, holding her hands out.
"You want up?" She asked, smiling, "Grab on. Trust me."

He hadn't really noticed how short the buildings were in Sunshine Island. If Mia was able to reach down to him, he might have a problem. But he ignored that, and grabbed her hand, swinging his feet up and bracing them against the wall to climb up, like he was scaling a boulder, or a mountain, neither of which he had done before. He didn't pause long enough to hesitate; he knew he would fall if he did. Instead, he let Mia pull him up.

"Whew," he exhaled when he was up. He tentatively got to his feet, and scanned the island. The view made him whistle. "Wow," he said softly.

Mia grinned, brushing windswept hair to aside.
"Pretty, isn't it?" She asked, "Now you know why I'm up here so often."

It got better. The higher you went, the better the view was. Though it got pretty complicated up at the tops, there were mazes of pipes and unjumpable jumps which Mia have the savvy to pull off quite yet.

You could see the forest trees towering high up in the air, and barely see the beach, it's golden sands barely peeking into sight.

"I should force you up here more often. You'd be surprised how homely the top of your shop is." She laughed, looking around at the buildings surrounding them.

Chase wrinkled his nose, sidestepping bird droppings. "Eh...I'll agree with you on the homely thing," he said, laughing airily. He looked back out at the ocean, amazingly blue and wide-spread. It never ceased to amaze him how big the world was beyond his own, and even when he was slightly out of his comfort zone, there was so much more to see than...well, just the ground.

"I can't say I blame you for loving it up here," he said softly. He sighed, running a hand through his hair. He refocused, and turned back to her. "So, do you mostly stick to rooftops, or do you scale other tall objects, too?"

Mia couldn't help but smile, just having Chase on the rooftops added a whole new air to it. It was funny how just his presence made everything seem so much better.

She had to think for a moment before answering the next question, however.
She climbed just about anything she could.
"I climb everything climbable." She concluded, setting her hands on her hips. There was something about being up so high, something about the thin air and the adrenaline that kept bringing her back to the skies.

"Do you like it up here?" She asked curiously, bunching her hands behind her back and twiddling her thumbs.

Chase nodded slowly, mulling everything over in his mind. "Yeah," he said, slowly, forming the sound carefully. "I do." He walked over, looking at the ground and trying to find the relatively cleanest spot, and sat down. It wasn't as spectacular a view as it was when he was standing, but it was nice enough. "It makes me a little dizzy, though." He wasn't the biggest fan of heights. He wasn't scared, per say, but...cautious.

Looking down from the clouds, she watched curiously as Chase sat himself down.
Hmmmmm...Mia walked over to Chase and knelt down beside him, carefully avoiding spots of dirt.
"Wanna go back down?" She mused softly, smiling. "I don't mind."

She didn't want him to keel over, after all.

He looked up, raising his eyebrows. "What? Oh, no, I'm fine." It seriously wasn't that far to the ground. Not at all. Besides, he was fine. He stood up nevertheless and, back turned to Mia, looked out at a different angle. "Hmm," he said, quietly and to himself. There was a lot to be said with that syllable, but he meant nothing by it. At least he didn't think he did. He was thinking in circles- he had been doing that quite often lately, and it was disconcerting him. He frowned and put his chin in his hand, thinking.

Mia thought for a moment, but then realised.
If he can stomach me, he can stomach a little height.
"Okay, brave boy. " She smiled, standing up with him.

For a moment, Chase seemed a little... Lost? She couldn't tell, he just looked immersed in his thoughts. Something was ticking inside him.
"What's going on in that mind of yours?" She asked, laughing quietly.
