A gem that doesn't shine [Kazumi+Frederik]

It was a lovely day outside, sun shining, warm weather, nice atmosphere. A perfect day to relax outside and read a book or mess around with people you know.

Clang, clang, clang....

Except for some people who worked hard to polish their skills, like Frederik who was sitting on the chair constantly whacking metal with it, taking pliers and putting into fire then taking it out again and repeat. With each hit on the small metal bar his confidence decreased until finally the hammer stopped in mid-air, leaving the room in complete silence except for crackling fire right next to Frederik.

Heavy sigh disturbed the silence and Frederik put down the hammer, his hands picked up the necklace eagerly. He did a good job on the necklace itself. The metal shone and sparkled as the light was emitted by the fire, Frederik was sure that the endurance of it was quite high, and the metal he used was of a good quality, but there was one thing that irked him.

The gem did not shine.

Suddenly a gust of wind nearly put out the fire.

"The shop is closed," Frederik turned his head growling at the door, but noticing a gentle looking girl he suddenly shut his mouth.

Oops?

"Oh my, I'm sorry." Kauzmi said putting a hand to her mouth. Kazu's hair was tied up into a small little ponytail that bobbed up and down when she walked. She wore long, boot-cut jeans with some holes here and there and a light pink tank top. "Should I come back later, sir?" Kazu asked. Her eyes studied the man siting next to an empty fire pit.
He seemed irritated. Wrong, he was irritated. Kazu didn't mind all that much, but she hoped she wasn't interupting anything.

The girl apologised and Frederik sighed. He was annoyed by his very own attitude, but what could Fred do? His blue eyes gazed at the girl as she asked if coming back later was all right.

"Sorry about that," Frederik clenched his teeth forcing out the apology. No he wasn't the sort of person to apologise, "It's all right don't mind me."

Frederik dusted off his clothing and stood up, taking the newly-made necklace together. His objective of the moment was to get rid off this failed necklace. A gem that doesn't shine. What sort of joke is that? Frederik silently hurried towards the girl who just entered through the door and appeared to be concerned about Fred. Noticing that, the guy shook his head showing that it really was all right.

"Well, what brings you here, miss?"

Kazu eyed the necklace the man held in his hand. He seemed displeased with it. Kazu couldn't understand why, it was a beautiful piece of work. "I'm Kazumi." She said looking back at the man. "I own a farm around here." Kazu gave one of her dazzling smiles. "You must be new here, welcome sir! I'm very pleased to meet you!" Kazu noticed for the first time the man was very handsom, but it was just a passing thought. She had thought the same thing when she had met Chase. "Um, what's your name?" Kazu asked, her bright round hazel eyes met his blue ones.

"Eeh? A farm?" He prolonged the sentence, but his sleepy personality made it appear as if the amusement was fake. That was the problem Frederik encountered daily; inability to express oneself. Although, that never really bothered the blond guy. Of course it wouldn't, if you don't interact with people at all, yet he had quite well developed socialising skills, most likely gained due to no fear of misjudgement and people.

"I am pleased to meet you too"

The guy stood there for a moment and only answered with "Frederik". His irritation over the necklace, blocked the trail of his thoughts.

He rose the necklace to eye-level and examined it. The gem surely did not shine and that could be considered as a precise failure. As a blacksmith he felt ashamed of this creation, but he had to face it; failures are unavoidable.

What am I supposed to do with this? His thoughts wandered off as eyes blankly stared at the necklace in front of him.

Kazu nodded and smiled. "Pleased to meet you too." She said nodding. Kazu noticed Fredrick's deep fustration and felt sort of bad. She didn't want Fredrick to feel upset over such a beautiful peice, why didn't he like it? "It's a lovley necklace." Kazu chimed in as Fredrick examined his work. 'I noticed you're unhappy with it....how come? It's very beautiful."

After finishing with the necklace Frederik gazed at Kazumi as a question left her lips.

"If there's something wrong AND visible, it is considered a failure."

He lingered for a moment as his mind, finally, proceeded the fact that the girl watched the necklace for some time now.

"If you want to, you can have it." Frederik gazed sleepily at Kazumi, wondering if anyone would actually want the necklace.

Kazu's face turned beat red. "Oh no! I mean, I've been looking at it for a while but I wasn't implying anything! AH! No that I don't want it, I really like it. If it's ok I'll take it." Kazu smiled sheepishly. "What I mean is..ya, i'll take it." Kazu examined the piece of work again. 'I'm sorry, but I don't see anything wrong with it. I mean, I know I'd definitely not be able to pull this of.." Kazumi offered Fredrick a smile. "Either way, thank you so much for it! I'm really happy!"

Frederik without a second thought, reached out for the girl and quickly placed the accessory on her neck. Whether he liked it or not, this piece of silver was created by him and only him.

"There you go," He yawned, avoiding to look over at the creation again. "Maybe it doesn't really appear like it, but this accessory is quite the ruined one."
After a moment of silence, he turned around with intentions of cleaning up the anvil he left behind. While picking up the hammer and spilling water on the fireplace, he glanced over at the girl with his bright blue eyes...

"A gem that doesn't shine... Ruins the entire creation." said he, once again facing the anvil and picking up various items.

Kazu examined the necklace. "Oh, but it does shine." she corrected. "Maybe not in appearence, but it shines alright. Everything shines. Sometimes you just have to look harder to find it. I can see this necklace's shine just fine, it's a very fine radience." Kazu nodded approvingly and offered a smile. "That's why I like it very much."

Silently watching the girl named Kazumi explain her opinion about this matter, Frederik fixed his gaze on the necklace. She was right, the accessory reflected light, like any other metal item would; however, the gem, which was inserted in the silver necklace, emitted shine, which was very dull and blank. That's not how it should be.

Frederik silently pushed himself away from the table, standing tall and snickering at the sight.

"Maybe, you're right." said he.

Wondering if it was the right decision to give away such creation of his, Frederik pulled open curtains covering the window. For whatever reason, he didn't seem to annoyed by it, right now.

"Um, thank you again, sir." Kazu said smiling. She gave a polite nod of the head and turned to leave. "I hope we get to meet each other soon." Kazumi opened to door and left. I wonder where I should put it so it will be safe? Kazu thought. AH, I know! I'll just ware it everyday like I do with my chocker! That's perfect!

"Anytime." Frederik grinned, turning his head and watching the girl with the corner of his eye. Working on that small accessory resulted in a dusty workplace, as Frederik stood in front of the window, streaks of light brought small floating grains of dust into attention. Although, that only made this small place cosier, so the guy had no complaints.

Turning around, he wanted to bid adieu, but stopped right after opening his mouth. Kazumi turned to the door, opening it widely, letting in fresh air along with bright light. At the moment she left, Frederik grinned and let out a heavy sigh, wondering about various things.

"Charming little girl, who seems to do the impossible, aren't you?"

It was a bright day outside, tree leaves rustling silently as wind brushed them mildly. Indeed, a fine warm day. However, rain or sun, didn't matter to the owner of the workshop, as the person got back to work.
