Walking Through the Paths [Wess and Genna]

Genna happily skipped to the entrance of the jungle where her "boyfriend" simply asked her to meet and then probably do something. This time she brought a watch with her. It was 3:50 pm. "Don't worry he has 10 minutes," She thought. She got so worried about him getting into trouble lately, she would literally bite her nails if something happened to him. She was just getting used to this relationship thing. She sat on the nearest boulder just listening to her voices that rarely came anymore. They still came but rarely. She was happy by the thought.

Bushes rustled for a few moments, and then Wess emerged from them happily. "Hey Genna," Wess said, waving energetically. "I heard there are a lot of animals in this jungle... Wanna search for some rarer ones with me? Wess positions himself in front of Genna, who happened to be sitting on a large rock, or small boulder. There didn't seem to be any sunlight to blind him from looking at Genna; due to the time; Wess should of been looking into it, however, it seemed the tall trees took care of that.

Genna was daydreaming until Wess came from the bushes which made her yelp. "Oh, It' just you~" She said happily. She would of screamed if it was a person with a knife. But it wasn't "I would love to!," She said getting up from the small boulder. She loved animals, even though they were hard to take care of, but it was worth owning a shop full of animals so people who are lonely or a farmer that needed animals to make money and keep their farm. He randomly looked at her hand which seemed to be a paper cut. "Huh? How did that get there?" She muttered, not wanting Wess to know. She didn't do anything with her hand today, only working. It was probably from working to much.

Wess heard Genna muttering, but didn't hear what was said. "What was that?" Wess asks, continuing on a adventurous little trail, until he saw s squirrel which stopped and looked at them fearfully. Bending down, Wess waggled his finger, like a squirrel would their tail. Chirruping, it scurried over to Wess and smelled him, before leaping onto his shoulder. Wess laughed as he grabbed a seed and gave it to the squirrel. "Isn't it adorable?" Wess asks, scratching the squirrel on it's ear. Squirrels happened to be one of the easier wild rodents to befriend, provided you knew your facts.

"Oh nothing, it's nothing," She said aloud. They walked on a trail until a squirrel looked at them fearfully. She stopped in her tracks and Wess was most likely trying to befriend the squirrel. It was successful and she couldn't help but admire the squirrel's cuteness."Awww," She replied. She didn't want to pet the squirrel due to probably getting rabies. By the thought of that she was worried now. Rabies had to be treated. She was really hoping the squirrel didn't have rabies. Until something caught her attention. "Hey what's that?" She said concerned. It seemed to be up the tree. She climbed the tree and it turned out to be three motherless birds. They seemed really hungry and were for days. "Wess! I found three motherless birds! We need to find food or something!," She hollered down high from the tree. She wanted to help these little critters. Animals don't deserve to die.

"Genna... I want to save them too, but think logically... How are two humans supposed to raise baby birds?" Wess asks, scouring the ground uncomfortably, for a possible food source. "Well... If we take them back to the Pet Store.... Maybe we can fit them in with the ducks and chickens," Wess suggested. "But what if the parents are out scavenging?" Wess asks, suddenly, thinking about how he wouldn't like it if his children were taken away by giant birds to be raised inside a pen with unfamiliar people, waiting to be bought by giant chickens and ducks.

Genna looked confused, it was hard to see since she was up all the way on the tree. It was true that the mother bird could be looking for food, or bring them to her store. She shrugged and jumped all the way down from the tree. She landed on her feet. "Your right," She said smiling weirdly. It was true that Wess was a veterinarian and had better experience then her. "What now?' She asked trying to change the subject.

"We wait," Wess says simply, playing with the squirrel's tail that rested on his shoulder. "Want do you want to do while we wait?" he asks, toying with the squirrel before it jumped down, then left, clearly not in a playful mood. Wess chuckled a bit as it leaped up a tree trunk. He heard a painful cawing noise, and it seemed far away. Wess' eyes darted there for a second. before back to the baby birds. "What color were they?" he asks, seeming serious all the more sudden, recognizing the bird's call.

"Alright," Genna said. She was simply worried about these birds above them. What if the mother never came back? What if they had to spend all night here? All these questions ran through her head until she heard a painful cawing noise. "Color? They were blue...," She began. Then after a few seconds her eyes widened. "Wess! They might be attacked!" She exclaimed. She began climbing the tree not waiting for Wess. It sounded far away, she could of sworn when she got to the branch they were right there. She was frightened. They could have been taken away from a hawk. She looked up, there was the hawk....with the birds nest? Maybe she had bad memory. "I think it's a hawk!" She exclaimed again.

Wess didn't have time to think. He shot up the tree and grabbed the nest, leaping down, he swung off a branch and landed gracefully on one knee, with the other up, like a kneel. "Come on Genna," Wess says, keeping the baby birds close to him. "We have to make it to Waffle Island, to your Pet Store. These are birds haven't eaten, you were right, we need to get food in them now," Wess warns, he grips her hand tightly as he runs towards the boat leading to Waffle Island.

The baby birds were safe. She sighed of relief. The thing she was worried about now was that the hawk was going to attack them. Suddenly, Wess took her hand tightly and ran. So did she and tried to trip. She looked back, no sign of hawks. Once they got to the boat she got in and sighed. "I feel bad for them," She said sadly. What happened to the mother anyways? Did she get attacked also? These questions left unanswered. Now they had to teach them how to fly, and then let them go. Of course the two didn't know hw to fly, but they could immitate.

As they arrived at Waffle Island, Wess rushed them into the safety of the Pet Store; and placed them on a counter. A brilliant idea came into his head, he'd launch into action soon. "Okay, first thing is first," Wess ran to their grain supplies, which was kept for the birds. He returns with some "Indian Corn"; which was many different colors. He breaks it, and strains the kernels into a bowl. "Help me feed them, please," he tells Genna, dropping a kernel into the malnutrition bird's beak. He put one in the second, and one in the third, allowing them to swallow before they chirped and strained their necks more. "I'll go get them some water," Wess says, turning as he went towards a small, attachable "birdcage cup", and the sink.

They soon got in the pet store, they did all sorts of things. "Right," Genna said already feeding the birds. These birds were really hungry and they seemed to like the food. She just hoped they wouldn't call her 'mama'. She rolled her eyes by the thought. After a few minutes they seemed to be satisfied. She sighed of relief. They were on the edge of death there. She smiled, but they still needed water. "You got the water yet?" She asked, still watching the birds.

Wess returns with the water, in all the was carrying 6 cups. "Humans can go weeks without eating, but only days without water. These poor birds show that," He strokes one's head and pops a kernel in it's mouth. "Genna, I'd like to take these home, for veterinarian purposes, such as vaccination," Wess says, eying them with worry. His plan developed as he went, and on the inside he smirked, this was going to work well.

"Really? I never knew that" Genna said in awe. But she liked eating, and she had a good metabolism. Oh well, She smiled. The birds were all good and safe. "Ok sure~," She said agreeing with Wess. He was trained for that kind of procedure, while she didn't know anything about vet stuff or doctor stuff. She knew basics, like CPR and bandage cuts and all that. "I should close down the shop right now, see you tomorrow?" She asked. Something as telling her, that something great was going to happen tomorrow.

"Yeah," Wess said, scooping up the nest, along with the birds, kernels, and water cups. He held it like you would a baby. "I'll come back by tomorrow, see you later," Wess said, smiling. He left the shop, the bell making it's sound as he opened the door, and left. He turned and stopped in front of a boat. Wess stepped on board, sheltering the birds from the wind with his jacket, as they sped towards Forget-Me-Not Valley.
