Checking In (For any victims of the hurricane)

Arden sighed as she set her bags down on the counter in the strange clinic. It wasn't the hospital that she worked at, but she had been called there. Apparently, some catastrophic hurricane had hit the down, and injured most or all of the practicing doctors, including Dr. Cunningham, who must have been visiting or something.

In any case, Arden decided to stop by and pay visits to all the victims, and also help out with the healing process. Even though she wasn't the specific doctor they needed (kids and adults had very different medical needs), she figured she could lend a hand. One of the nurses from the Boo-Boo Clinic stopped by and talked to her for a minute, and directed her to the patients' rooms. She nodded, and, tugging at her coat, headed to the nearest door.

She knocked, and opened the door a crack. "Hello...?"

Adamaris was laying on a bed, a steady course of morphine being injected into her. "Doctor?" she asks, turning her head to look at the woman.

"Come in, come in," she says, in a happily, but dazed manner.

"Uhm, the X-rays, their over there. A broken bone, and fractured ribs,"

"I think we need an Orthopedic surgeon," she says, in a high, shrill voice.

"For my ribs,"

"For my arm, I think you can just set it back in place,"

"It won't hurt, I can't feel anything below my neck," she hiccuped

Arden looked at the girl. She was in bad shape. "Okay," she said, snapping on a pair of gloves and getting to work. She picked up the X-rays. The girl's neck was badly bruised, but luckily not broken. "Yeah, you're just on a really heavy dose of pain medication. That's why you can't feel anything," she explained. She had been worried, for a second, that nerves had been damaged.

"Your arm has already been set by another doctor, one who came by earlier," she said, smiling. "If it hurts still, let me know." She took another look at the x-rays, and also grabbed the young woman's charts. "Only one or two of your ribs are broken, but almost all of the rest are as badly bruised as your neck," she said. "You'll need a plaster body cast, unfortunately. And I want to run a CT scan, just to see if there's tissue damage. You'll have to be on pain medication for a few seasons. If it hurts too much to breathe deeply, you may develop pneumonia." She flipped through the charts, and stopped, frowning, when something caught her eye. "Miss Zypher, this says you're on anti-psychotic medications. Is this true?"

Michael was just getting used to his wheelchair. He seemed to get the hang of it, just turning was a bit hard but he would get it soon enough.

Noticing some chatter going on, he went towards the room where it was. It was Dr. Auiban and Adamaris. He heard something about needing an orthopedic surgeon. He can't do it, it would be too had with broken legs. He came in and smiled at both of them. "Need any help, Dr. Auiban?" He asked looking up at Arden who seemed taller than him now. He only called people by their last names during work, he felt like it was more polite.

He turned his head towards Adamaris who seemed very delicate right now on that hospital bed. "Hello Adamaris, How are you feeling today?" He asked.

Adamaris looks at her arm, and blinks sleepily. "Interesting,"

"What's a plaster body cast- And yes, I'm on anti-psychotic medicine- I have an alter ego who's practically a bully; bent on killing everyone when she's controlling my body- The medicine subdued her enough to where I could keep her at bay with my current willpower; but she escapes when I'm enraged," Adamaris finished.

Kazu had been told her had a broken leg, a few crushed ribs, and some cuts and bruises. But Kazumi couldn't feel any of it. She was suffering from PTSD. Kazu had frequent flashbacks if the tree falling on her. She couldn't sleep. She wouldn't eat. Every time she heard a sound she jumped. Kazu had been acting tense and on edge all the time. The only time she would speak was when she was screaming for everyone to run because there was a tree that as going to fall. Kazu's appearance had changed as well. Her eyes were wild with fright, constantly looking back and forth as if seeing something others didn't. She had lost weight and was paler than ever. A psychotherapist had been coming in to visit Kazumi to work on her, though so far Kazumi had rejected him.

Arden turned slightly as someone else entered the room, though she didn't hear footsteps. She was shocked to see Dr. Greer wheeling towards her in a chair. "Dr. Greer!" she exclaimed. "You...you shouldn't be in here. You need to return to your hospital bed, please." She tried to take on an authoritative look.

Turning back to Adamaris, she sighed. "Ah..." she murmured, making a mental note to check with the clinic's psych ward and see if the girl could be granted temporary admittance, just for observation. "Miss Zephyr, the pain medication you're on may counteract with the anti-psychotics," she explained, flipping the pages again, and then holding it at her side. "We'll need to run some tests. And, to answer your question, a plaster body cast, also called an orthopedic cast, will be used to ensure that you don't injure your ribs or neck any further. It will help with the healing process. It's simply a cotton bandage that is introduced to plaster of paris. It acts as sort of a splint. Yours will be a shell, casing your torso."


Arden spotted another figure in a bed, and recognized it. "Excuse me for a moment," she said, holding up a hand in apology to Adamaris. She made her way over, and sat by Kazumi's bed. "Hey," she said. "How are you doing? Any pain?"

"No, I'm fine. I can't stay in my bed all day and not have fresh air, hmm?" The surgeon said. Plus the TV had nothing on and he simply allowed himself on check on some patients. He would rather take care of patients instead of doctors taking care of him. His cuts were barely notice able on his face now. They were kinda pink and soon dissapear.

He noticed Arden going to a next patient. He wouldn't want to leave the patient alone so he decided to stay with Adamaris. He did hear her about having medical history. He knew Schizophrenia wasn't genetic but probably ran through the family or was it just a new thing that happened? He had to look further into this. Plus she needed an orthopedic surgeon to get her fractured arm and ribs back together. Michael could have done it if he didn't break his legs.

"I hear you have often visited hospitals before? Is it about Incendia?" He asked, over hearing on what he heard about what Adamaris was saying.

Kazumi jumped and let out a yelp. Hr shrunken eyes studied the blond woman. "It hurts." she whispered in a course voice. "My whole body hurts. I can't sleep. There's a tree.....it's going to fall on me. I see it every time I close my eyes. I'm scared. I'm really scared. I don't want the tree to fall on me. What do I do?! What do I do?!" Kazumi trembled all over. "I don't want to die!' Kauzmi cried gripping her head.

Arden shook her head, suddenly overwhelmed. "It's okay," she said to the panicked woman, trying to calm her down. She stepped away from the bed, and motioned to Dr. Greer to get his attention. "I'll be right back," she murmured, and then moved out of the room.

In the hallway, she leaned against the wall and exhaled. A hand pressed to her forehead, and sweat rimmed against her gloves. She passionately snapped the gloves off of each hand and threw them in the garbage can.

A nurse passed by. "Nurse," Arden called, reaching a bare hand out. "The girls in there, Miss Martin and Miss Zephyr. Kazumi Martin needs a sedative, and Adamaris Zephyr needs to be transferred to the psych ward, ASAP. I'd like to lower her dose of pain medication; the last thing we need is for to have a psychotic break."

She then maneuvered down the hall, trying to see if anyone else needed her help.

Inside one of the rooms was where Ray was sitting down in one of the hospital benches, waiting to speak with one of the doctors. He wasn’t in a hospital gown like he was in for a check-up, but he was in his regular dry clothes. The smell of disinfectant was intoxicating in these rooms, and he was extremely tempted to open up a window despite the AC. In fact, he occasionally rose from his bed and paced in front of it, glancing at it curiously before pacing back and forth again. He wasn’t a doctor or anything, but he’d say that he had a classic symptom of boredom-itus.

A nurse had recently come in the room, requesting that he sit still for the doctor to come by and examine his wounds, but he couldn’t do it. He still felt nervous, and he still felt the need to walk around just to know that he was doing something. It wasn’t as if he had any serious injuries, right? There was some glass in his face, yes, but the kind people here had taken them out. As for whether it was going to permanently scar or not…he’d probably need to see some kind of specialist for that, wouldn’t he?

Again, not that he knew about that; but he did know that they existed. The smell of the room was finally getting to him and he opened the window, sticking his head out like a trapped puppy in a car. The air felt so nice and sweet, though humid, but that was fine with him. He looked out and frowned; though the air smelled nice, the scenery left much to be desired. There was still debris all over the place, even though he did his part by cleaning up a little. Footsteps down the hall caught his attention as he slipped the window shut and tiptoed over to the bed, pretending that he had followed orders all along.
