Quiet Like the Snow [Ari and Dylan]

Dylan had gone into labor and thus she was brought to the hospital like the last time with Jethro. Things seemed different this time around though. The nurse was fussing over her high blood preasure, which in turn made her worry to no end. Before she didn't have this problem, so why was it happening now? Could it be that their baby was sick?

Her hand was shaking as she clenched Ari's hand. Tears were practically forming in her eyes as she fretted over their yet to be born child. "Ari," she said her voice filled with fear. "Will everything be okay?" She wasn't looking for a certain awnser from him, just his comforting voice reasurring her that everything would be fine. That's all she wanted at that moment.

Ari was right by his wife's side. From the moment she mumbled about it being the time and to where the doctors and nurses began to exchange worried glances between each other. He continued to stay right by her side for every moment. Ari didn't have to worry about Jethro since he had already been staying at Chases' house for the weekend; he silently thanked him as he rushed Dylan to the hospital. Dylan's hand squeezed around his own--he noticed how large his were compared to his own, but he thought they fit perfectly nonetheless. Her voice trembled slightly and Ari quickly delivered a kiss to her slightly moist forehead. She was worried, as much as he was, but he knew he had to stay strong, for her sake. He smiled weakly, "Of course." He began, "Everything will be just fine." He told her.

A nurse moved over to him, "Mr. Lupo, I think you should wait outside." The nurse told her, trying to usher him out, but he stayed put.

"No, I'd like to stay here with my wife, please."

Exhaustion seemed to plauge Dylan. She felt so weak enduring this adversity, but atleast she was with Ari. If she could have she would have told the nurse that she needed Ari to be here more than anyone else, but words started to feel beyond her grasp. Her poor husband had to hid his own worries infront of her so she could get through them, which she felt terrible for. Soon after this they'd be one happy complete family though.

Minute by minute she felt her breath getting heavier. "If the baby is a girl let's name her Scarlett," she said tiredly, remembering what they would have named Jethro if he was a girl. Dylan had to find a way to not think of the pain. This seemed pretty logical at the moment and it was a happy thought neitherless. "What about a name incase it's a boy?"

Something was wrong. Something was going wrong and Ari had no idea what it was. Dylan wasn't like this while she was in labor with Jethro, which made him extremely nervous, but he played a calm expression to ease his wife. She offered a name up if the baby was a girl, Ari smiled. "It's a beautiful name." He told her, "I'm sure it'll be a girl, and she'll look just like she beautiful mother." He told her, gently squeezing his wife's hand through this. "But if, you can name him whatever you want. Anything is wonderful." He continued, brushing pieces of hair that clung to her face away.

"Everything is going to be just fine Dylan." He told her, if not trying to reassure himself in a way. If anything happened to her, he wouldn't know how to live with himself.

"Ah!" she yelled through out the pain. It seemed to last for hours and it only exhausted her more. Finally it was all over though and she heard the sound of crying. They did it. Another baby was delievered of theirs and their family was now complete. Together they'd be a big happy family. On top of that her husband was correct, they indeed had a girl. Jethro was going to be a big brother.

"Ari," she panted trying to keep them open. She managed to hear that the nurse say that her blood pressure was abnormally high. Pain still consumed her body and she had the feeling that she was dying. There was a sweet smile on her face, while tears streamed down. "I love you," she said becoming numb to the world. She could see Ari, but she couldn't feel his hand that clenched hers tightly.
Then her eyes closed forever.

He had to keep calm, just for Dylan's sake. The doctors were becoming more frantic, but Ari had to tune them all out. He had to stay calm. Dylan was in a lot of pain, and Ari knew that there was nothing he could do as much as he wanted to help her. Soon, the wails of a baby girl came into the room and he smiled down towards his wife, letting the nurses take care of his new baby daughter. "A girl." He told her, kissing her forehead. "A beautiful baby girl. Just like her mother." He put another kiss on her forehead.

That's when things started to go very wrong.

The grip of her hand around his own started to lessen and the doctor's nearly shoved him out of the way. "Dylan," He replied, his eyes becoming extremely worried as he shoved his way through the swarm of doctor's around her. Her final words struck him and his heart stopped. "I love you too." He told her, noticing that her eyes were closing. "Dylan? Dylan?!" He called to her, touching her forehead and moving hair once more. "Dylan! No!" He called out once more. A solid buzz rang out from the heart monitor next to her and the tears fell from his eyes. "Dylan please!" He told her, laying his upper body across hers on the bed. Clutching the sheets in his fists tightly as the doctors tried to pull him away, "Not you too."

She was gone.
