The Last Tzar

Plot

In the early 20th century, Russia and its government were on the verge of collapse. The Royal Family, Tzar Nicholas II of Russia, his wife, and their five children, were hopeless against the revolution by the citizens of Russia. In August 1917, the Romanov family was evacuated from their palace home to the former Governor’s Mansion, after being told that the move was to protect them from the uprisings of the revolution.

In October of that same year, all power was stripped from Kerensky's Provisional Government, and thus from Nicholas, and it all went downhill from there. The family was treated like prisoners, placed on soldier’s rations and constantly insulted, degraded, and disrespected. And yet, the family did not lose hope. They believed that multiple plans were in place to free them from their personal hell.

And there were.

A small group of strangers, bound together by their firm loyalty to their tzar, plans to enact their escape for the family.

But they have to act fast---talk of trial for the ex-Tzar is becoming more frequent, and execution of the entire family is also being discussed. The clock is ticking for the Romanovs. Will they be rescued? Or will the family meet a horrible fate in the basement of the Governor’s Mansion, where they have been kept captive for nearly a year?

Background Information

The Romanov family consists of seven people: Tzar Nicholas, his wife, Alix of Hesse (later known as Alexandra Fedorovna), and their children, Grand Duchesses Olga, Tatiana, Maria, and Anastasia. There was one male borne to the Romanov family, Grand Duke Alexei Nikolaevich. Heir to the throne, Alexei and his family hid a terrible secret from the rest of Russia: the young Duke suffered from hemophilia. Any small accident, and he could easily bleed to death.

In rough conditions, such as the Romanovs were forcefully subjected to, there was no time for joy. However, with hope in their hearts, the children and their parents tried to keep their spirits high, by finding happiness and hope in the smallest of things.

Meanwhile, the conspirators (the people trying to break the Romanovs out of their prison) have to be extremely cautious in their actions and plans. Any small mess-up could ruin everything. They can’t trust anyone, especially when the very person they are trying to save is Public Enemy #1 in Russia. Even if they succeed, they will be forced to go into hiding, along with any Royal Family members that are saved, if the plan works.

Extra Information

The “official” fate of the Romanovs is world-renowned. They were all to be murdered, execution-style, in the basement of the Governor’s Mansion. To the knowledge of the government, and the only “real” explanation of the events of July 17, 1918, where it is stated that the entire family was killed. But there are many, many theories of escape. Allegedly, either Grand Duchess Maria or Anastasia escaped, along with their younger brother, Alexei.

This is the whole point of the RP. Escape of any family member, by any means possible. If the girls have to manipulate the guards, or the conspirators have to use a bomb to rescue the Royal Family, then so be it. The entire family may not make it out alive. Or they might. They may be caught after escape, or they may go into hiding. They may not escape at all. This is YOUR RP; it’s up to you how the events turn out.

Olga Nikolaevna--- The oldest of the Romanov children. Worked alongside her sister, Tatiana, as a nurse in World War I. Olga and Tatiana were close friends as well as sisters. 22 years old during the year this RP takes place in (1918).

Alexei Nikolaevich--- The youngest child of Nicholas and Alix, and the only boy. Thus, he was the heir to the throne, had it not been taken from his family. Alexei was babied and doted on by his family. He also suffered from hemophilia, so precautions must be taken in everything he does. If he falls and hits his head, he could bleed to death. He was close to his sister, Anastasia, who was only 3 years older than he was. He was 13 during the time this RP takes place in.
