Look How The Sky Lights Up {Yellow Heart - Ari & Dylan}

For the first time in a long time—he listened to the crickets chirp. The skies were darkened and the sun had just sank beneath it’s earthly blanket; the first stars were beginning to come out and there was no one walking the streets. The only source of sound came from the waters and the crickets, of course. There was a full moon out tonight, and how it shined so bright, lighting up everything in it’s pale light. Everything around him was so peaceful—he could paint a picture of it, but not even the paint could capture the serenity of this moment.

Should he take a chance? Why not, it wouldn’t hurt to try. He stepped upon the stone ledge, being very careful not to fall into the water below. Attentive enough to lean against the lamp post, but not enough to keep him mind occupied on the sparkling horizon. But still, he pressed in gloved hands into his pant pockets and stared out, his mind was definitely somewhere else.

Why was he still there? By now, he usually would have been moved on to the next town, forgetting old names and faces. But Ari was still there—he and his messy red hair were still there.

The sky was mixed with the gentle light of the fading sun and specks of stars started to shine throughout the dark black that slowly was taking over the sky. Dylan had been sitting on the soft grass to the side of the road for awhile now. Her eyes were closed as she listened to the trickle of the water and the chirping of the crickets. It was so peaceful here, why hadn't she come to this place before? Even though the island was much like Mineral Town, it was yet so different.

For awhile she could only hear the sound of nature, but now she heard someone step on something hard nearby. Curiously she ventured from her spot toward the direction of the sound. For all she knew, it might have been a wild animal afterall. To her surprise it was Ari. "Hey Ari," she said with a gentle smile invading her face. "Odd meeting you here today."

He brushed some pieces of his hair from his eyesight and continued to stare out, not aware of his friend’s arrival to the side of him—but as soon as she spoke up, he quickly turned towards the source with an alert stance, as if he was ready to jump if he was being yelled at for standing there. But much to his relief, it was Dylan and Ari smiled weakly, “Oh, good evening.” He replied, nodding his head politely, still leaning on the lamppost. He chuckled at her, “I suppose it’s an odd meeting. But still a good one.” He kept the smile on his face, “How are you this fine evening?”

"Yep," Dylan said looking up at her friend. Ari seemed so tall standing on the ledge compared to her, she felt really short. The light of the lamp gently lit where the stood making Ari's hair shine a bit. Carefully, she walked to the otherside of him and sat on the ledge by him. "I'm pretty good," she said gently smiling. "What about yourself?"

Ari smiled weakly as his radiant eyes moved from Dylan to the water again until he noticed her moving around him. Was she leaving? Ari quickly twisted around to see where she was going and felt a moment of relief as she sat down next to where he stood. Geez, when she sat down, he felt really tall. He shrugged, “Not bad. But it’s good to hear you’re doing well.” He chuckled, looking back out into the black waters. There was a brief moment of silence shared before Ari looked back towards Dylan, "Dylan," He spoke, "Care to join me up here? The view is very nice with the stars and the moon reflecting off of the water." He offered his hand down to her.

It felt as if Dylan could sit there forever with Ari, even with the silence. A gentle breeze lightly hit her face causing her to push her bangs out of her eyes. She looked up at Ari and he looked down at her. When he said her name for a second she could swear her heart was about to leap out. She nodded quietly and held on to his hand and began to stand up, next to him. The view was better than she had expected, "Whoa, you're right. It's beautiful Ari."

Ari grinned as she took his hand in her own—why did it feel like something was right that moment--climbing up next to him. Just as she began speaking, his eyes turned towards her. ‘Her eyes really sparkle with the moon in them.’ He thought—then catching his thoughts, rethinking what went through his mind. “Beautiful… Yeah.” He agreed, though quickly caught himself as he realized he was staring at Dylan, and quickly turned his gaze back towards the star-filled water. “It’s a beautiful night too.” He quickly continued.

When Ari looked at Dylan her heart skipped a beat. Her cheeks flushed red as a result from what he said. Did this mean he had been thinking about her too? Lately he had been on her mind and she wanted to know if she was on his mind, but she was too nervous to ask. She held onto his hand a little bit tighter and a stream of light made its way across the dark sky. "It's a shooting star," she said pointing at it with her other hand. "Make a wish quickly."

In the pale moonlight, it had almost appeared to Ari that Dylan was blushing, but he couldn’t really tell—still, Ari couldn’t help but smile. He enjoyed Dylan’s company very much, perhaps… She enjoyed his company the same way. Was Dylan no longer a just a close friend? Something twitched in the young man’s heart as he noticed that they had not released hands but she gripped tighter on to his hand. She pointed up to a shooting star and told him to make a wish. A wish? But what could he wish for? But still, Ari tightly closed his eyelids and thought hard on a wish… Actually reminding him of one of their first meetings by the Goddess Pond where she told him to make a wish into the pond. Right there, that very moment, Ari knew his wish and repeated it several times in his mind, as if to assure himself, but something told him it was already true.

He opened his eyes and turned his head towards Dylan, “You make your wish?” There was a small smirk on the corner of his lip, as if he was going to try to get her to tell him what she wished for.

Dylan opened her eyes right away after making her wish. The wish came to her right away, as if she barely had to think about it all. Like her heart already knew that was what she wanted the most at the moment. Before she had made a wish by Ari, but this time seemed a whole lot different. "Yeah," she spoke softly. She looked into Ari's enchanting green eyes tempted to say her wish to him, but she was too nervous. She really wanted to tell him, but all she could manage to do was quickly turn her head back to the sky. What if he didn't feel the same way? What if she was mistaking her feelings? She hadn't felt this way before--she loved it, but she was scared at the same time.

She looked up towards him and for the moment—Ari thought time had stopped. But then she mumbled a soft word, Ari was going to press into it like a child would but was stopped when Dylan turned away from him. His words quickly retreated from his chords as he just looked at her. ‘Goddess.’ He thought sourly, ‘Perhaps, my mind is only playing tricks on me…’ But he did the same, just looking up towards the sky, “It certainly is wonderful, isn’t it?” He questioned in a soft whisper, as if not wanting to disturb the peace around them.

"Uh huh," she gently nodded. Everything felt weird to Dylan at the moment. Her heart beated fast and there were butterflies in her stomache, also her head felt warm. They still held hands and Ari had not let go of hers yet, so thoughts danced in her head. She had been nervous before, but nothing like this. Things started to get dizzy for some odd reason. She had felt a little tired but not that bad earlier. Suddenly, she lost her balance and leaned on Ari. Her chest hurt now and she covered her mouth to cover a harsh coughing sound coming from her throat. All she could manage to say was, "Ari, I don't feel good..."

((OOC: I was tempted to have her runaway and say 'Sorry, but I can't stay,' but then I thought about her getting sick and then a private event caused by it. xD))

Ari heard the girl hum a soft reply and he just slowly breathed. The evening was so nice. He felt her lean up against him for a moment, managing to almost startle him for he was unprepared for the warmth of her body to touch his. He looked down towards her just as she let out a bit of a violent cough. There was a sudden change in expression, from relaxed to complete concern. “Are you alright?”

“Ari, I don’t feel good…”

It felt as if his stomach dropped twenty stories at that sharp moment—he quickly stepped down from the ledge and picked her up into his arms, ‘She isn’t very heavy,’ he thought, not really caring if she protested against him. “You certainly don’t sound it either. Let me take you home.” He offered as he began walking towards where he came from earlier that day.

For an instant everything seemed to go blank, but then another cough seemed to wake her up and she noticed she was in Ari's arms. If she was normal she'd be more curious on how that happened or would tell him that she could walk, but it felt like all of her energy suddenly ran away. "Sorry," she said lightly to him. It wasn't fair to him that she suddenly had to get sick.

Dylan didn’t protest, at all. Of course, this worried Ari a little bit since she didn’t really respond at all until she coughed a few more times before muttering an apology. “It’s alright, really.” He told her, “I just need to get you home so you can rest.” He continued, though it sounded more as if he were talking to himself. “Were you feeling sick earlier today?” He questioned.

Ari's voice sounded so gentle to Dylan as she layed there in his arms. She could feel each step he took and the beating of his heart. The fact that he had to carry her made her sad, she knew better than to go out when she had a sinus infection. She should've waited for another time to visit Waffle Island, but she really wanted to come. "Yesterday, and the day before," she mumbled weakly.
