A New Kind of Day [Ari and Dylan: Baby Time]

There was an unusal pain in Dylan's stomach this morning while she was washing the dishes after breakfast as she did everyday. Lately the baby had been kicking, but nothing before was like this. The other kicks were just dull compared to this one also. Could this be what the doctor had been warning her about? Was it really time for the baby to be born? Another kick was felt in her stomache, this one harder than the one before. Wincing she set down the plate she was holding and made her way to the living room, slowly but she made it most of the way without needing anything to hold her up. She felt weaker, when just a moment ago she felt as fine as she could be. "Ari," she said holding herself up against the wall. "I think it's time."

He had only been relaxing on the couch, his green eyes closed, just about to fall into some sort of nap but then was awakened by the voice of his wife. "Dyl?" He questioned, half awake of course. He had misunderstood her, glancing down at his watch, "I think it's ten, but I think it stopped ticking." He shook his wrist a little and put it up to his ear to listen for some subtle sound of ticking. He smiled, "Never mind, it's working again." He hadn't sat up to see his wife leaning against the wall.

"Not that kind of time," Dylan responded, she would have slaped him if it wasn't for all the pain coming from the movement of the baby in her. She carefully made her way to him each step wearing her out, once she reached the couch she couldn't help but sit on it for a moment to catch her breath. "I think the baby wants out now," she said resting her hands on her stomache. Dylan always thought being a mother would be great, but lately it had been hurting a lot more than she thought it would. It would be all over soon, wouldn't it?

Ari furrowed his brows together when she answered--forcing himself to sit up and turn towards her. Seeing her face covered in a mixture of emotions made his face drain color. "T-that time?" He questioned as she went to go sit down. He quickly stood up, "Then we need to go to the clinic!" He spoke up, obviously worried for the safety of his wife. "I cannot deliver a baby in our living room." He told her, trying to help her up.

Finally it seemed like Ari understood that it was time for the baby to come. "Yes," she said somewhat impatiently. The baby was clearly testing her nerves at the moment, but she was in too much pain to be angry at her husband for his slow reaction from when she first told him. All that mattered to her that she would get to the clinic as soon as possible or that the doctor would come here. As long as the baby came out the location didn't matter. She slowly got up. "Ari, please call the doctor," she said making her way to the door.

Oh, she was getting upset at him--Ari gulped in a bit of fear that his wife would lash out at him. She carefully stood up an he rushed to a phone to grab hold of the clinic to prepare them for the rush that was child bearing and Dylan, of course. "I'm on it." With that said, he made the call and quickly ran out to catch Dylan and get her to the clinic with no problems whatsoever.

It seemed to take forever for them to reach the clinic. A few times on the way she felt like collapsing, but she did her best not to. Ari was a big help, but Dylan couldn't help but be mad at him. Her mother warned her about this, she said it came with every birth and it went away once the baby was out. Sometimes that took awhile though, for instance her mother was once in labor for almost an entire day. They made it though, and in once piece.

Once arriving to the clinic, Ari quickly called for the doctor to come out and help his wife. He turned towards his wife with a big, but nervous, smile, "Everything is going to be okay. I promise." He told her, his smile not faltering one bit as they brought Dylan to wear the kid would be delivered and whatnot. He carefully grabbed his wife's hand and held it as if to say he would be there for her the whole time.

The pain seemed bigger now and Dylan tightly held Ari's hand. She had always wanted a child, but she never imagined that it would hurt this much. It was nice that Ari was with her all the way through this, otherwise she probably couldn't get through this alone. Giving birth felt like it was taking forever, but after many painful screams the baby was born. The baby cried making Dylan smile weakly, "Ari, we're parents."
