| The sand felt both warm and cool under her toes. She scrunched them into the sand, burying them under the sand while she fixed the way she sat on the ground. There was a cool breeze that played with a few stray strands of her fiery red hair, making them dance in the wind. The spring was coming to a close soon and the summer was rolling in. She lend forward a bit, folding her arms over her bend up knees. Savannah let her green eyes wander the shoreline, watching the waves crash against the shore. There was something that was just so calming about that beach. | |

| His breaks were rare. He hardly allowed himself to take any. There was simply too much work to be done and not enough time in the day. In fact, he had often found himself staying up well into the night just to take care of farmwork. It was exhausting, but he found it rewarding.
And then suddenly, all the investments of effort he had put in paid off, and he found himself with a bit, scarce though it was, of precious idle time. He tried sitting in his house and relaxing, but soon became restless, and decided to go for a walk. His feet led him right to the next town, straight to the beach.
The red hair was a stark contrast to the lighter creams and blues that one associates with a picture of the beach. Though she was facing away from him, Graham immediately recognized the figure sitting by the shore, and, on an impulse, approached her. He touched her shoulder briefly, gingerly as he sat next to her, and then folded his hands on top of his knees. He didn't say anything; instead, he followed her gaze to the ocean and looked out.

| She hadn't really been expecting anyone else to join her. Sure, she had seen people, both couples and singles, walk right on past by, but Savannah wasn't expecting any visitors or conversation starters that day. She blinked when she felt a hand press upon her shoulder, quickly glancing up towards the unknown person. To her surprise, it was Graham. Her breath had been caught for a moment--the surprise of a familiar person sitting down next to her. Her green eyes went back out into the water.
It had been a few moments until she broke the silence between the two, "Taking a break for once?" She joked, not taking her eyes from the water for a moment. She only moved her left hand to brush a piece of hair behind her ear.

| "Yup," Graham replied. He picked up a handful of sand and let it fall between his fingers. "Trying to, anyway." He shook his head and released the rest of the fine grains, letting them fly away before brushing his hands on his pants. "The complete lack of work is driving me crazy."
The beach wasn't very crowded. That would likely change, come summer. It was, he supposed, a popular spot for couples, friends, and single beach-goers alike. He could understand why. It was beautiful. He loved beaches, especially this one, for some reason. It was oddly tranquil.
He looked over at her. "What about you? You stopping to smell the roses, or the ocean water, or whatever? Or are you avoiding something, too?"

| Savannah let out a soft giggle at his answer. Even as a kid, Savannah could remember him always busy with something whether it was something extremely important or something as small as running to a shop by the apartment building. She tilted her head slightly, as if thinking, "So you would rather be working, when you're taking a break from work?" She chuckled once more, "You really haven't changed very much."
The ocean breeze caught a few strands of hair in its grasp, playing with it--the redhead shrugged, "Avoiding something?" She restated the question, "What do I have to avoid?" She smiled weakly, "I guess I just stopped to look and admire." Her right hand dropped into the sand, tracing a few small circles. "Sometimes, you have to just stop and look at the little things, ya' know what I mean?"
