Mia ran a hand through her hair as she sighed, ignoring the strange, uncomfortable feeling that swelled in her stomach.
She'd been curled up on the couch for the past five minutes, trying to focus on the book that she'd plucked from the shelf; but it seemed as if the words simply floated astray from her strained thoughts. She simply couldn't concentrate.

It was an odd feeling. Not too painful, but still, quite annoying and distracting.
Inhaling deeply, she gently laid the book on the arm of the couch, wincing as she set her hands on her stomach.
Owwwww...

Chase sighed as he walked out of the nursery slash baby's room and into the main room of the house. "Clara's finally asleep," he said, sliding on the couch next to Mia. He reached out and tucked a piece of hair behind her ear, and leaned over to kiss her forehead. He noticed that she was a little sweaty, with a kind of contrived expression on her face. She was holding her stomach. He sat back up and frowned. "Mia? Are you okay?" He pressed a palm against her forehead, feeling for a fever. "Is your stomach bothering you?"

Mia let a small smile cross her lips as she felt the familiar warmth of her Husband's hands, and the tingling that still came with his kiss.
"Must be some kind of daddy trick." She whispered, gently brushing her fingertips against his chin.

It wasn't easy to smile through the pain, though. It was simply uncomfortable.
"Mmm. Yeah, actually."
It was, dare she say, a somewhat familiar pain.
Mia was fairly sure it would ease with time: But something was alert, in the back of her mind. Just a vague, shimmering possibility as she reflected on the last time she felt like this, keeping her gaze rested on Chase (and one hand rested on her stomach) as she pondered absently.

Chase frowned. The distant look in Mia's eyes, the way she was bent over at the waist and the way she was cradling her stomach....it was all very, very familiar. "Mia?" He said haltingly, looking her over with concern and another quite unexplainable emotion. "Do you think we need to go to the Clinic? I can get Ari and Dylan to watch Clara for a while, I'm sure."

Don't get excited, Chase. But it was so hard not to. Instantly, his mind began to race. He reached over and pressed his palm against the small of his wife's back. "Let's go," he urged gently.

Mia wondered, for a slow second, while her stomach turned in protest. This kind of strange, uneasy pain. It had only happened once before.
Could it possibly be...?

She couldn't jump to conclusions, though. They'd have to go to the clinic.
Oh, but she wanted, so dearly, to allow her hopes to soar.
She smiled through the discomfort and nodded.

Mia stood herself up, her legs a little hesitant under the influence of whatever was brewing in her stomach.
"Okay." She agreed, "Let's go."

It took Chase just a minute to run and find someone willing to watch Clara for a while, so he could nearly push Mia out of the door. "Come on," he urged, grabbing her hand and leading her down the road to the Clinic. It wasn't terribly far away - it was a path he knew quite well, actually, and so they were standing at the door, and then in the waiting room, fairly soon.

"The doctor will see you!" The nurse chirped, ushering the couple into a small room. Chase motioned for Mia to sit on the cot, and then took a seat himself in a nearby chair.

"How are you feeling?" He asked, worry creasing his forehead.
