When Ryan left to live with Aunt Tracey, he knew he didn't want to burden their favorite Aunt so he ran away from home to live on Sunshine Island, when he found a brochure. Kyle really liked Aunt Tracey, because she was so open and carefree like Ryan. He wanted to be like them alot.

Kyle has had a rather unremarkable life up until he arrived in Sunshine Island. The fact that he was a twin altered his childhood a bit; he could never go anywhere or do anything without Ryan, and even though the twins are not identical, you can still see the obvious similarities between them. Other than having a twin, Kyle was just a normal child. He went to school, but he never was very good at making friends. Ryan was the more social, appealing one, which made Kyle feel a bit inferior. When Ryan left their parent’s house when they were fifteen, Kyle realized that he and his brother had a deeper bond then they realized, which made Ryan’s leaving even harder for Kyle to take. He became even more closed off from the rest of the world, and doesn’t like to open himself up to anyone for fear that they’ll leave him like his brother did.
