The lumpy, dull ore resting in the bottom was...less than picturesque. But it wasn't the ore that Arden was searching to draw...it was the beautiful, priceless gems hidden within the layers of rock. She was doing a project for her makeshift "portfolio," which was more a personal project than anything.
Of course, actually finding the ore required some hard work as well. To get down 15 floors, Arden had fallen down three holes and had to use her hoe to find the rest. Now, bruised but happy, she sat down and started to draw.
Hours started to slip away, unbeknownst to Arden. Finally, she looked up and deemed it time to go. However, as she started to look for the stairs, she couldn't see them. Wha---? They were over there the last time I saw them... She walked over to the place where the stairs were supposed to be and looked up. There was a small hole in the ceiling, and rocks were covering it. Small pebbles rained down on her head as it dawned on her...
There was a cave-in. I'm stuck down here.
Panic threatened to take in as Arden realized that, stuck below ground-level in small space would soon leave her with no air. She forced herself to take a few deep breaths to calm down, but she couldn't help thinking that those might be her last...
