A Climb (Reserved: Gabriel and Adamaris)

Adamaris was bundled up for this particular cold, Autumn day. She thought fresh air would do her good, not that her shop's air wasn't fresh... Her plants photosynthesis made sure the air was clean and fresh. But still, she needed a bit more exercise. A hike, actually was what she needed. And since she had heard of this tall mountain, she decided it would be good to escape Mineral Town, to have a nice hike. Slowly she climbed, until she found a nice place to res, then she looked down, and Adamaris could see across the entire island. Feeling slightly fatigued, she nibbled on her Elli Grass, unaware of her surroundings.

Gelato Mountain towered over Gabriel like a person to an ant. He came to the island to talk with the doctor Jin in person and see for himself the exellent herbs he was talking about over an e-mail. After that he headed here to find a few to grow back in Mineral Town for his own clinic. As he ventured through the brush he noticed Adamaris nibbling on some Elli Grass by the looks of it. "Hey Admaris," he said. "What are you doing all the way out here?"

Adamaris looks up from her "meal". "Oh, I'm just out here for some fresh air and exercise," she replies, consuming the last of her purple herb in a polite manner. Pulling another out of her bag, she offers Gabriel one. "Want one?" she asks, looking up at him. Trying to keep conversation going, Adamaris asks, "What brings you all the way up here?" She feels the breeze pick up; along with her hair and scarf, which billowed for a few moments, and fell back down with the wind.

Unlike Adamaris, Gabriel wasn't here to do anything fit at all. She probably was healthier than him physcially because of the whole smoking thing too. He walked closer to her and she offered him some of her elli grass and he took some of it and nibbled on it's leaves. "Just gathering herbs Jin suggested to help with medicines," he said. The wind grew stronger for a second and seemed to die down, he'd have to hurry if he wanted to get some herbs before the weather grew harsh by the looks of it.

"Oh," Adamaris' voice rang with delight. "What kind of herbs? A specific type of grass?" she asks. "Or maybe a sleeping agent like poppy? Or daffodil for a natural infection remedy?" It was quite clear Adamaris knew her plants, and knew quite a few "old wives tales" to go along with that. "I took a nature and survival course when I was younger, and then went to college to study plants," she explains, hoping this would clarify her sudden knowledge of things.

Adamaris's eyes seemed to light up when she heard him mention plants. For a moment she seemed to rant on different kinds of plants asking him one question after another what he was looking for. "Okay, okay," he said trying to get his mind back on track after the explosion of questions. "I'm looking for a bunch of different herbs that are native only to this island," he explained. "That way I have a wide variety at my finger tips to use."

"Oh," Adamaris says. "So, you're looking for the multicolored herbs, mushrooms, power berries, and the occasional blueberry and toadstool?" She stretches. "Come on, let's climb higher," Adamaris chimes happily. The Elli Grass' nutrients flowing through her veins, she grips Gabriel's hand and pulls her him upwards with her, eyes on the look out for any type of herb. She comes to an abrupt stop rather quick. "I found a green herb," Adamaris says, picking it from the ground, and showing it to Gabriel.

"Yeah, you could say so," he shrugged not really thinking much of it. By the looks of it Adamaris sounded like she wanted to help him. She probably knew plants more than him since she was a herbalist, so instead of complaining about being dragged he shut up and followed her up the mountain. "The leaves look different from the ones in Mineral Town, does that mean anything special or was it just an adaption for growing here?" he asked.

"It's probably more bitter," Adamaris says truthfully. "We're on a mountain; there are little nutrients in the soil here. Thus, these grasses would be smaller, with less nutritional value. But something tells me, if we found some near the base of the mountain; those would be better than Mineral Town's, because gravity supplies them with falling soil from the mountain; which isn't sapped out from any stray weeds, or plants," Adamaris twirls energetically. Walking a little ways, she finds a toadstool. Plucking it from the ground, she gets all serious, "This is poisonous isn't it?" he hand shook as she spoke, indicating Incendia was forcing herself out again.

"Actually, only the top is deadly--the bottom can be used as medicine," he explained and then something caught his eye. Her hand was trembling, just slightly at the moment though. Since she was used to the mountains she couldn't be scared, no that was immpossible. Gabriel had a bad feeling in his gut that something bad would happen soon. "Why don't we go down towards the base?" he suggested. "Afterall you just said soil quality was better there?"

"Sure..." Adamaris' voice trembled, and she took a forceful step downwards. Adamaris was muttering to herself. "Come on... Eat it... One swift bite," "N-no..." Adamaris' hand stretched toward her mouth. Stretching her neck to avoid it, she could feel her mouth opening. She bit down on it, and Incendia completely took control. "You're mine now, Adamaris!" Adamaris' voice had a maniacal ring to it; and she laughed. Adamaris' body convulsed as she spat up blood and toppled over.

((*sigh* Dramaaaaa))

Gabriel's gut was right, without a doubt. As Adamaris took a step down the mountain he heard her muttering information to herself--something about eating something. Then the toadstool caught his eye, he had to get it away from her before she did anything stupid. Adamaris seemed to be fighting back though and after a short convulsion bloody sputtum came out of her mouth. "Adamaris!" he exclaimed rushing towards the girl and prying the mushroom out of her hand. "Get a hold of yourself!"

"You'd think I was Adamaris, right? I've got Adamaris where I was her. When her small intestines are attacked by the poison, she'll die... Brilliant isn't it?" Incendia laughed, while Adamaris cut her short. "Y-You forgot about the antidote..." Adamaris huffs. "It's the stem..." Adamaris' familiar voice returned. "Consider this your last time possessing me, Incendia," She reached inside her pocket, he arm trembling as she took out a pill. "WHAT?! NO!" Adamaris forcefully swallowed the pill; locking Incendia up, hopefully for good this time. "Gabriel- May I see the stem?" Adamaris asks, blood was seeping from her mouth; but she didn't seem to notice. It was probable her emotional memories overpowered the pain; thus she couldn't feel it.

Admaris was able to stop Incendia, but she payed the price for it by the looks of it. Blood was coming out of her mouth, which never was a good sign. She was bleeding and internally too, the hardest type of bleeding to fix away from a hospital. He hesiantly handed her the mushroom, it was beaten up from when Gabriel forced her to give it too him, but it wasn't too bad. It was possible to tell which was the top and which was the stem. "We got to head to a hospital," he said.

Adamaris ate the stem, she stood up, slightly dazed. "No need to worry about me, I'll be fine-" Adamaris bursts out coughing more, blood seeped from her mouth again. "Okay.... Maybe I should go to the hospital," she bellowed, tears coming to her eyes as her voice changed to a higher pitch, before she spat more blood out, looking slightly dazed. "Lead the way, I'm coming," she pants, staggering after Gabriel weakly.

Adamaris protested that she was fine, but Gabe was skeptical about it and eventually she gave in and agreed to go the hospital. For all he knew she might need more antidote than the stem at this point, the mushroom was pretty big afterall. Quickly he approached her gave her his arm to help her support herself. "By the way you look you'll need a hand getting the rest of the way down," he said. "Come on, let's hurry."

"N-no, don't trouble yourself," Adamaris whimpered; she would of removed her arm from him; but it was numb; not a good sign. She slowly slipped down the hill with Gabriel, him doing most of the work; as she could feel the tingling sensation spreading towards her legs. Eventually, she made it onto the boat, and what seemed no time at all, was in Mineral Town, and then, his office. She looked around terrified at the small hospital; in her head, she was cursing Incendia.
