Choices [Black Friendship Event Ray and Michael]

Walking around was his usual event of the day, now it was changed to wheeling around. Just a guy in a wheelchair who was in a hurricane and broke his legs, yup that's him, Michael. He couldn't walk or else it would seriously hurt and he would fall down and just stay there like a dead person.

Usually he had a lot of people staring at him lately, he didn't mind kids looking at him because they were still learning about the world but some people would just stare at him. Look it's a guy in a wheelchair, well he was the only person on these islands that was in a wheelchair. He wanted to walk and run again. But he didn't want to hurt his legs even more now.

The surgeon was just wheeling around Mineral Town until he stopped at the vineyard. They were still blooming but he couldn't help but just stare for a moment.

At the Vineyard again? Of course. During the time of week when he didn’t have to work? Yeppers. It was more random exploring around these parts, trying to get a decent idea of where everything was. He was just about done with his walk when he decided to check on this year’s crop. He overheard Duke at the bar saying that this year’s crop was sure to be a big one, and Ray just so happened to enjoy his alcohol when he had the chance. He just had to make sure he didn’t drink a lot, since drinking problems existed in the family. If what he heard about genetics were true, then he could get a really bad drinking addiction if he happened to get a lot in his system.

But he wasn’t going to let that happen, now was he? So hakuna mattata, and let’s move on with it. He did feel like lounging around with all of the pretty vines creeping around the fences, he enjoyed the scent of the place. The aroma was sweet yet strong; something different. Then he felt the presence of another and glanced over to the right, seeing a familiar fuzz ball of hair in a wheelchair.

”Michael…?” He asked hesitantly, at first not believing his own eyes. He was going to feel stupid if it wasn’t really him. If it wasn’t, then he could always act like it wasn’t that big of a deal…but still, it bothered him.

The surgeon heard a familiar voice behind him. He slowly turned his head. "Ray! It's nice to see you! How are you?" He asked turning his wheelchair around. He remembered the day of the hurricane when his face was covered up with glass shards. But the scars on his face seemed to be healing like they should be.

The surgeon caught himself under a boulder and ended up getting his legs broken. They should heal like a child's broken leg and be put in casts and get in a wheelchair so he could still move. He kinda hated it. Everytime he felt a temptation to just walk or run but he didn't want his condition to worsen.

Plus he couldn't do his actual job. He felt like an intern again. Checking patients, Helping other doctors, and changing IV's. Yup life as an intern all over again.

It was good to see a person who was all right after from a tragic storm.

Once he saw Michael’s face clearly and heard his name in a reply, it instantly sent relief all over his body. That was one potentially awkward social situation avoided, so mission accomplished. Sensing a good mood from the cheerful greeting, Ray quickly felt comfortable talking to a familiar survivor of the previous hurricane. Hey, by now he was willing to call Michael his friend, though he easily called anyone his friend, so it wasn’t that big of an accomplishment.

”Ah, good to see you too Michael. It’s been a while since then.” He grinned as he walked towards the crippled doctor with his hands in his pockets, posture showing signs of being totally chillaxed now. He was being vague about the hurricane for a reason, more specifically because he didn’t want to go into too much detail about what happened. But he was curious as to how the doctor was handling this shiny wheelchair now.

”I guess your legs got hurt pretty bad. I heard that there were a lot of people that had it worse than me.” He weakly nodded to his own statement, not sure whether he should feel grateful or guilty about the whole thing. He wasn’t even sure how sensitive the doctor was to the subject anyways, but it was the first thing that came into his head.

Michael nodded. "You're pretty lucky that you didn't get a lot of damage," He said grinning a bit. He was glad Ray only had to be in the hospital for a few days and ended up with scars on his face from the glass shards. he was also thankful the others were okay also but ended up with serious consequences. Well he was off work until the middle of the summer.

"Things happen in life that we just don't want," He expalined sighing. Most people had tragic things happen in there past, almost unreal. For him, one of his family members died from and illness the surgeon couldn't even identify. Then he just scolded his ex-girlfriend for no apparent reason. Now this, his legs were broken. Atleast not for life, that was a good thing. Just some people got most of the damage in that disaster.

"Glad Mineral Town didn't get hit really badly," He said cheering up a bit. It looked just the same. Except a bit more greener since summer was moving in.
