Eric walked up and down the streets of sunshine island singing this little song to himself as he went about kicking a small stone. What was the song about? He couldn't remember. Something to do with a bird and a sludge hammer. Sounded messy to him. Anyway, it had been a pretty day so Eric had decided to take a walk around the island. Since he had arrived here he hadn't really met any new people, he barley talked to anyone, really. Oh, how one longs for a friend in these lonely times! he thought. He stopped in the middle of the street and glanced a the sun through his long blond hair. "Yes, today!" he exclaimed pointing up at the sky. "Today destiny will bring me someone to chat with! Be they thugs, cute girls, or a boring old man! (though I'd prefer cute girls!)." Eric smiled and lowered his hand, then continued to walk on singing his little song.

Alouette curled up on the bench smack dab in the middle of the town. It wasn't the most awkward place to recline; she had seen worse. She rested her head on the metal arm of the wooden bench and stared out at the town. It was pretty, she supposed. Again, she had seen worse. This town was quiet, unimposing. But she hardly blended in. She knew that she was not doing herself any favors, in the fetal position in a place where any pair of eyes could see her, but she didn't care. She was tired. So she would stay there as long as she pleased.

The streets were empty, which made her feel a little less vulnerable. Just when she had started to become truly serene, she heard footsteps behind her and a man's soft voice. She tensed and sat up, listening closely. The voice was not familiar, but the words he was saying were... She made out her name, and that was all it really took. She looked over her shoulder and stared quizzically at the man, raising an eyebrow. "Pardon?"
