It starts with The Ball.

Dear Sir and or Madam;

You have been invited to the Grand Retirement Ball of Mr. King;
A large group of splendid guests shall be attending, although Mr. King himself shall only be making his attendance at precisely Midnight, as he is flying back from his final overseas business exchange with a popular Toy Company.

If you have recieved this letter, you have known Mr. King from some event during your lifetime, and he would like to bid you farewell before he leaves.
You may know Mr. King for his charitable work towards novelists, artists and musicians.
He has also sponsored a travelling circus, made several donations to the local Library and invested in a Professional Modelling agency; as well as founded his Son's dance association.

Mr. King has made many valuable contributions to this working world, and it is now time for him to retire.

A Chaeffuer shall pick you up at your own estate and drive you to the gala, where you shall arive at 9:00 PM.
You are expected to wear formal clothing, and bring manners as well as etiquette with you.
Mr. King instists that no gifts are to be brought, knowing full well the nature of some employees.

The party is scheduled to end at approximately 3:00 AM.

Your Chauffuer has driven you to the building, a large, luxurious venue glittering with lights and glamorous decor.
There is a long, indigo carpet leading your path towards the entrace- where a burly Bouncer stands with a list.
You have your invitation, and your name is confirmed to be on that guest list.

It is time to step out of your escort.

Gaston wasn't here to impress the friend of his father at all, sure Mr. King taught him to keep a fine eye for detail, but Gaston had more pressing matters to attend to during this ball. Besides he looked rather tall and handsome as he glided across the floor over to the bar to flirt with a woman who already was on her second glass of champagne. His black hair shined, his tux simply marvelous, and his eyes already scanning each prospective lady. Something about tonight told him that the best would be here. And he deserved the best.

I solemnly swear I am up to no good.

This is what Odile thought to herself with smile beat only by the Cheshire Cat.
She had spent the past ten minutes mingling with the man beside her whilst his wife was in the bathroom. From what she'd learned, he was a business man of family kind, and married only a few years back. This is what made the hunt fun.

But the man was boring, oh-so-boring. How he went on.
Whilst he spoke, Odile cast her glance all across the room, not bothering to hide her disinterest. And in a few moments, she rose from her seat, smiled at the flustered man and strolled away.
Not without first brushing her hand across his chest.

Odile weaved her way through the crowds. As she saunterded, she swept her hands across those of men with their backs turned. When they looked back, so did she, and simultaneously, she winked.
None of them were particularly interesting, but hey, Odile wasn't burning bridges.

Besides, she thought- one hundred years from now, who will care how many you kissed? How many people you gave your heart?
Odile was generous that way.

There was still quite a number of guests yet to arrive, and until then, Odile thought it best to occupy herself with a tall glass of red wine.
She stalked her way to the bar, requested her drink, and waited with a sultry glance, arching her neck and showing her true colours.
Odile was more racy than elegant. Her dress was low-cut, short. Embellished with feathers of black- a throwback to the very production she danced.

As she waited, Miss Cygnes scanned the room, and caught sight of a dashing young man with a marvelous tux.
She tossed him a wink, for he might be interesting. A pity he was already on his way towards a woman.
Not that it was a problem.

I doubt something interesting is going to happen.

She absoutletly, positively, did not want to attend this ball. This was the last thing she would do in this world. She would rather snuggle up on an armchair and read a fictional book and relax. But something urged her to go, like something was going to happen. Maybe find someone for pete's sake! But she thought further, 'Like that was going to happen,'

She idled around the corners of the room watching people gracefully dance with their partners. Men and Women elegantly dressed in fine appeal. For herself? Not many people liked to read books these days, low profit. She got the best but most affordable dress she could find. She had to admit, she looked pretty nice in this dress of hers.

Belle was her name, or people would call her the librarian. The woman who dusts and cleans the bookshelves and makes sure the books are in alphabetical order from the author's surname. However, she was dumb enough to not bring a small small to read instead of standing out by herself watching the moon in the dark sky.

She wanted to leave, but something wouldn't let the poor brunette to do so.
