(Claire x Kai) - Good enoughKai sighed with the Summer breeze. He had heard that someone had brought the old farm down the West side of Mineral Town, so Kai found himself intrigued, wandering down to the old farm. Much to his amazement, he found that the vast supply of weeds and branches had vanished from the field, and instead there were neatly laid out stone fences in the field, if not filled with an animal, filled with pineapples.
Keeping in his excitement over the pineapples, Kai calmly walked over to the small house, and knocked on the door. There was no answer.
He sighed, and was about to walk back to the beach when he heard a beautiful song ringing through the arid air. Following the voice, Kai gingerly walked to the source to find a woman inside one of the many stone-fenced paddocks, milking a cow.
The girl hadn’t seemed to have noticed him yet, as she kept singing with that charming voice. Kai took in her appearance as she sang. Her blonde mass of hair rested on her back, her vivid blue eyes shining as she worked.
She wore blue denim overalls on top of a light red checker shirt, both fitting nicely onto her slender frame.
She ushered the cow off to the others as she finished, closing her eyes and raising her head for a beautiful part of the song that made Kai’s heart shiver with delight.
“And I’m still waiting for the rain to fall… Pouring life down on me… Cause’ I can’t hold on… to anything that’s good enough... Am I good enough… For you to love me too” She finished, leaving Kai touched.
Coming back to his senses, Kai waved at her “Hey!”
The girl’s head swiftly turned to attention, her blue eyes wide with curiosity.
“Hi!” she called back, getting to her feet and leaping over the stones to Kai, a smile on her delicate face.
“I heard you uh… Brought the farm?” Kai asked, suddenly finding himself speechless in the girls presence.
“Yeah! It took me a few hours to clean it up… But I think I have it underway. By the way… I’m Claire! … What’s your name?” The girl asked.
“Welcome to Mineral Town, Claire! I’m Kai” Kai held out his hand for Claire to shake.
With a childish grin on his face, Kai shook hands with Claire.
A dog came up and pushed against Kai’s leg affectionately, and then hopped over to Claire. “This is Wolfii, my precious little squ---” Claire’s last words were muffled by Wolfii’s brown fur as she picked the dog up and hugged him.
Kai smiled subconsciously at Claire’s childishness.
Kai had a strong feeling that he would get along with Claire quite well. Well, at least until the Summer ended.
“Say, I have a little… Snack bar, you might say, down at the beach. Maybe you’d like to come sometime?” Kai asked. Claire looked back at him with that bright smile of hers.
“Sure! I’ve wanted to visit ever since I heard about it. I love the beach!” Kai’s heart missed a beat. “Well… I’ll see you there!” Kai suddenly felt the urge to jump with joy. Containing the strange urge, he waved goodbye and darted out of Claire’s farm.
