Waves of Gold and Blue [Yellow Heart Event- Mia & Chase]

A quiet breeze swept across the sands, waves softly brushing up against the shores. The skies were dark, the morning barely waking. Mia sat comfortably in the sands, her wheelchair behind her. She didn't want to be trapped in a wheelchair for the moment.


She had snuck out early to get to the beach to see the world at it's finest.
The sun would rise soon...

It was his favorite part of day.

Normally, the streets were abandoned until later in the morning, after alarm clocks trilled and people pulled themselves out of bed. Chase, however, had some sort of natural alarm clock in his body, some magnetic pull to the tunings of the earth that he just couldn't resist.

He knew it was sort of strange to be awake at such an early hour, so he didn't tell many people of his habit. Instead, he got dressed quickly, and headed out, leaving a note behind for Mia. He walked through the town, his feet taking him in the familiar direction. He went to the beach every morning, when he could.

It was abandoned, as it always was, at least at first glance. He walked out to the dock, sitting down and tilting his head at the sky.

The stars were starting beginning to vanish from their places in the sky; the smallest hint of colour barely crawling over the horizon. But, a silhouette against the sky, a familiar figure sat upon the docks, none too far away.
Chase.
Mia smiled, his name warm like honey in her mind.

She oh-so-quietly inched herself towards him, though careful not to scare him.
"Hello..." She said quietly, almost a whisper.

Chase thought he had imagined his name being whispered, maybe an illusion of the waves, of the tide. But when he turned around, more for his peace of mind than anything, he was startled to see Mia, sitting on the sand without her chair. "Mia!" he exclaimed, breaking the quiet of the surrounding area. "What-" He stood up quickly and approached her. "Are you okay? What are you doing out here? Where is your chair?"


So many questions. He could never learn enough about her. She could write volumes about herself, and he would still not know everything. He would not know nearly enough.

Mia giggled. It was actually kind of cute when Chase was filled with these questions, kind of cute when he acted like that.
"I'm fine, I'm watching the sun rise, and the chair's over there." She answered calmly, pointing to the chair sitting off elsewhere. "Did I disturb you?" She asked coyly.

She was yet to find out what constantly brought her to Chase, yet to find out why he was so... Magnetic.
Mia smiled, trying for about the thousandth time to find anything in his eyes.

He frowned at her, trying to put two and two together. "But...if your chair is over there...how did you get over here?" He shook his head. "You know what? Never mind." He looked back out at the sky, tinting pink. "You're not bothering me," he replied, motioning for her to join him on the dock. "You need some help, or are you good?" he asked, a little awkward. Should he pick her up? He wasn't sure. He dug his toes in the sand a little bit, cleared his throat, and tilted his head up to the clouds. "It's pretty this morning," he commented.

Mia looked down, shamefully; she had simply shuffled her way across the sands. It had hurt.
"I got here in a pitiful way, 'nuff said." She concluded, rolling her eyes. "Shuffling is uncomfortable." She grinned.

The sky was still mostly dim, with all but a faint light peeking over the horizon yet.
"Yeah..." She agreed. It certainly was pretty, what little light there was, coating the clouds a warm orange-yellow.

Chase scoffed. "That was stupid," he told her, though he was sure she already knew. "Why didn't you just call for me? I would've come and got you." He shook his head, and then bent down and scooped her up into his arms. She was lighter than he had expected, even with the plaster casts, though those were bulky and made it hard to hold her. Nevertheless, he was able to carry her easily enough across the sand, up to the dock. He set her down carefully, and then sat next to her. "This okay?" he asked.

"I know that." Mia said, matter-of-factly.
She barely concealed a blush as Chase picked her up. He was actually quite warm, and she could just feel his heartbeat. It was comforting, much to her surprise.

"This is fine." She smiled as he set her on the wood, the waves dancing before them under the light. It was beginning to get lighter, slowly.
Upon looking at Chase, she realized. The light accentuated just how well his face was sculpted, just how... Well, handsome he looked.
Wait, wait, where'd that come from?
She blushed and concentrated on the rising sun, pushing the thought to the back of her mind.

It must've just been the light hitting her face, or maybe he was crazy, but it almost looked like Mia was...blushing? Chase couldn't quite tell. What he did know, however, was that he was looking at her for just a second too long, and he quickly swerved his head back around, and up at the sunrise. Rays started to peek over the horizon, lighting the sky and dancing on the water, but his attention was distracted.

"Um." He couldn't think of anything witty, or funny, or even remotely interesting to say, so instead he coughed.

Mia did try her best to simply watch the sun as it slowly crawled over the horizon, tried to watch as the waves shimmered under it's light. But all that went through her mind was Chase, which was tragic, because he sat right next to her.

He'd grown quite dear to her.
She swallowed nervously as she realized.
It wasn't the sun rise that made the morning so precious, it was just sitting next to Chase.

His arms were the only place she wanted to be anymore.

The sun took merely a moment to show its face fully, and it was majestic as always. However, it was unrelenting, as well, and he had to look away. "Morning," he mumbled. Well, it had been morning for a while, but the sunrise made it official. After the moment had passed, he looked back at Mia. "Well...?" He smiled. "Want to go home?"

Home. Strange word.

"Hm?" Mia was abruptly pulled out of her thoughts. "Oh... Yeah, okay."
She smiled, bottling her thoughts down in her chest, hoping her own eyes didn't betray her like they always seemingly did.

The world was warm, but it felt cold to Mia.
She'd never really had time for things like 'Crushes' and 'love', all of those girly things. Now that'd it'd hit her, it felt like an avalanche.

He wondered briefly if he needed to ask her permission to pick her up, but since she hadn't protested before, he figured it was okay to scoop her back up again. So he did, carrying her lithe body across the beach, to the little patch of trees where her wheelchair was stashed. He held her with one hand, pushed the chair back up to the pavement, and settled her down. "You want to go get some breakfast, or just go back to my place?" he asked, squinting against the now-overbearing sunlight.

Mia was quite shocked when Chase was able to hold her with one arm. She was a fully grown girl, but he seemed to have no trouble.
"You're strong." She laughed, as she was set back into her chair.
Back in the mobile jail. She thought bitterly.

"Um... If you want breakfast." She answered, dimly. She wasn't particularly hungry this morning, her appetite had been demolished by the short moment in the light of the rising sun.

Chase shrugged as he pushed her through town. "I'm not really hungry, honestly," he admitted. "I'm usually not. Not until later in the afternoon, anyways." Bachelor-dom had taken a toll on him, for sure. He hadn't eaten three square meals a day since...he didn't know how long.

"Well, the town is ours," he said. "I doubt anyone is awake. Is there anything you want to do?"
