Christmas Hope Ch. 2

Ch. 2 A New Lifestyle

Hope sat in the backseat of her father's car and stared out the window. It had been a year since the tragic accident. And her baby brother's first birthday. He sat in a car seat next to Hope. It had been hard since Cindy died. Dan soon was layed off work and havinf trouble looking for it. He was also having a hard time getting over his lost love. But he knew Cindy wouldn't want this kind of sadness for her children, so Dan would most of the time fake a smile and try to get his daughter to laugh and be happy. He didn'd want his daughter to suffer like he was. "hey." he said gently noticing his daughter's sad expression. "what's the matter tiger?" he asked tenderly. 'when is mommy coming home from her vacation?" hope asked impationtly. It took all of dan's effort to keep smiling. "not for a while sweety." he said. The three were headed to Hope's grandparents' house to celibrate Max's first birthday. Hope went back to her somber expression. "ey, cheer up tiger mm k?" he said. "we're going to grandma and grandpa's house to have fun." "you know what grandpa will do if he catches you with a sour face like that. Hope smiled wickedly. She knew exactly what would happen. He grandpa would pick her up and toss her over his sholder and spin her around until she was so dizy she couldn't walk, or think streight. Then grandma would scold him and grandpa would give an innocent face and excuse. Hope smiled even wider at the thought of this. "that's the smile i want to see!" Dan said happily. They finally pulled into the drive way and got out of the car

It doesn't make sense that Dan wouldn't tell Hope. It would make it easier in the long run for Hope.

well, that is true, but you're dealing with someone who doesn't really know how to tell his daughter her mother died. Keep in mind that at the time, hope is about 6 or 7. even if she is at that age, dan doesn't really know how to explain it to her.

I get your point, but wouldn't Hope by now would have lost all hope of her mother's return. A year at her age is a very long time for her. It would seem like forever for her.

you're right about that, but hope is one fo those children who just don't know when to stop believing. Which is actually a very good quality in most situatons. In the next couple of chapters though, hope starts to relize more and more what all the things that have been happening mean. she starts to understand more.

well, the truth is, i kinda suck to. i get thesse great ideas and work out a plot in such, but when it comes to actually writing them, i have trouble. >_<

I suffer so much from school, its been hard because im studying for college.
