Summer Fires = Disaster [Open Thread]

Molly was the same as always, just rubbing his cheeks. he had to getused to that along with the sexual harassment. Soon she pulled Gabe to the middle of the dance floor which Michael had a fit of laughter for a moment. "I'll give you twenty bucks if you dance with her for atleast two songs," he said, chuckling. He even had his wallet with him, but he was just joking.

For an unknown reason, the air conditioner wasn't really working it started to actually warm up in here. Was it that there were too many people in here? Or was it the temperatures?

[You should, just say it became too hot outside and the roof started to catch on fire and then it quickly spread]

Alisa laughed at Michael's comment to the doctor. She remembered him actually, he was the one that was there at the...

Alisa noticed, for the first time, how hot it really was. It was summer after all but... It seemed like it was more hot in there then in outside. "Hm..." she thought. It wasn't usually like this, not from what she could remember from the previous years.

Ashton felt a bit embarrased from storming up the stairs like such a child. Sure, people could say he was a child but he wasn't that young comparred... He was just at an uncomfortable age, really. His voice had started cracking as well, so it made it very awkward. Ashton wiped his forehead.

"Wow, it's hot..." he said, smelling something rather familiar but not usual.

Alisa smelled an odd scent.

"Michael..." she started, trying to get his attention. "Do you smell... Smoke?"

Steve sat in the corner skimming the crowded room, noticing a few face he had seen in Forget Me Not, but no one who he had actually talked to... After a few minutes Steve noticed the room was getting hot... While there were a lot of people in the room it was too hot for that to account for the heat.

Getting up Steve realized just how oppressive the heat was, he quickly climbed the stairs, heading back to his room. However moving away from the crowded lobby wasn't helping the heat any... in fact it seemed to be getting hotter and motre oppressive. Finally back in his room, Steve opens the window a bit as he sits on the bed and rumages through his bag. After only a few seconds Steve notices the smell of burning wood.

Tossing his bag over one shoulder Steve heads for the door, thinking he might see if there is somewhere to swim. However before he can even leave the room, he realizes that there is now smoke coming in the window, Quickly crossing the room he slams the window closed. Turning back towards the door, steve notices the ceiling is bugling and buckling oddly. As Steve steps through the door into the hallway he thinks he saw a flickering light in the attic. But it is gone before he can be sure.

Molly was busily flirting with Micheal as one of her favorite songs was being played. Gabriel must have been in his own little world though, for he didn't think that Molly asked him to dance. The fact that the blonde dragged him out on the dancefloor left him flummoxed. Micheal seemed to enjoy every bit of this moment, probably because he wasn't forced on the floor to dance. There was a bet that he heard Micheal say, so atleast he'd give it a shot--even if he had no clue what he was doing.

"No," Gabriel admitted slightly embarrased. "I have no clue how to dance." He tried swaying like she did, but he felt off-beat with every movement. Molly's hands felt small in his own, but so smooth. It was rather nice to see the girl smiling at him as he tried to dance.

The room was starting to get warmer, but Gabriel thought nothing of it. He did smoke himself afterall and he was dancing.

Cody couldn't help but feel a tad out of place because now more people had started to dance. "Hey Celeste you wanna--?" he cut himself off though when a familiar smell entered his nose. Smoke. He quickly scanned the room seriously looking to see if anyone was smoking. No one was though. Another girl must had smelt it as well, so he couldn't be imagining things. Everyone here was in danger.

"Celeste," Cody said looking at the green eyed woman. "I think we should get out of here." Hopefully, everyone would get out smoothly without anyone getting hurt. Or maybe something was being burnt in the kitchen, by chance. There was a horrible feeling in Cody's gut though that told him to get out though.

Molly twirled as the song ended. She twitched her nose as she smelled smoke. "Gabe...have you been smoking anytime recently?" she asked glancing around the room.

Kitcat started to hiss wildly and looking at Molly and then to the door. Dite did the same. "What is it litt-" She started but was cut off when she started to dripp sweat off of her and heared the roaring sound of fire. She ehared the wood crack and break. The inn was on fire for sure and Molly could tell.

Silva started barking and acting crazy. This was bad. Something had to be seriously wrong. "Guys, we need to get out of here, now! Everyone start heading towards the nearest exit!" Robert called out. He had an idea of what was going on when he saw the smoke, but Silva's erratic behavior was what set off the red flags in his mind. He wasn't the closest one to the door, so someone else would have to open the door.

Heat, a lot of heat. It wans't long before people were fixing to get out of here. Caris, a very rare moment for her, turned serious. And I mean everything. Her expression, her posture, and the way she spoke. "Fire." she said in a daze. "Yes, everyone get out. I'll be back." Almost in a dream-like state, Caris went upstairs.

"Well, no," Gabriel commented at Molly's question. There was the familiar smell of the smoke--one which he loved from his experience as a smoker, but an alarm went off in his head this time. Then there was a cracking sound which caused him to nearly jump. His best friend told him to take Molly out, so that is what he did. Molly was important to Micheal, so there was no way he wouldn't follow his orders. "Come on," he said grabbing ahold of her and running to the door with the girl in tow.

Something snapped in Celeste and she went upstairs chasing two people. "Celeste!" he exlamied as he watched his friend run up the stairs. If there was anytime to be the hero he wanted to be, now was the time. Too bad he really didn't having to be a hero in situations like this. He ran in pursuit of the girl hoping to convince her that he should be the one to save people instead.

Then the unexpected happened.

Right as Cody approached the steps a large wooden molding encoated in flames fell from the ceiling--blocking his way up and the people upstairs way down. "Celeste! The stairs are cut off by the fire!" he yelled cupping his hands around his mouth to help carry out the warning to the girl who was now, as of this moment stuck on the floor. Tasting smoke in his lungs he coughed. There was nothing he could do from right here. Pathetic. That's what Cody felt like. He was supposed to protect people before this kind of thing happened.

[Ohhh~ What will the traped people do? -inseret evil smile here-]

Caris coughed violently, but continued to walk on through the fire. Faintly, she could hear faint screams and cries of people who were, just a minute ago, laughing and conversing. These sounds were all downed out though by the crackling fire and thick, heavy smoke. However, one sound managed to reach Caris's ear. That's strange. She thought. I don't ever remember seeing a child--oh shoot. It was that child from before. Ashton or something, wasn't it? Speeding on ahead, Caris followed the noise until she came to the room. Caris banged on the door--locked. "HOLD ON!" She shouted through the smoke. "I'm going to get you out!" Backing up from the door, Caris got a running started and hit the door with her shoulder--nothing. Once more. She thought. Caris repeated this, and the weak door broke down. "Hey!" she shouted, rushing into the room. Caris leaned down next to the child. "Let's get out of here, OK?" Caris asked offering the boy her hand. However, before anything else could happen, a piece of the roof came crashing down and nearly hit Caris in the head. However, it only managed to knock off her sunglasses. Shoot. Caris thought, covering her left eye with her hand. She once again offered Ashton her hand. "Common!" she urged.

"Take him." Caris ordered. "I'll meet you out there.....I need to find where my sunglasses went." Caris offered a smile. "I'll be fine, I promise. Now go, please." Caris gently shoved the young boy twards his sister, and right after she did that, some if the ceiling collapsed, separating the three. Startled, Caris fell backwards and let out a small cry. And for a split second, Caris's hand left her eye. But she quickly re-covered it.

"Alisa, wait!" Robert called out, but by then, she had taken off up the stairs, which were now in flames. The sound of the creaking above was not helping matters any. "Blast." Robert spoke as he grabbed his cloak and wrapped it around his lower head to keep himself from breathing in the smoke. He decided if he was going to get those trapped upstairs out, he was going to have to put his life on the line. With a bold jump, Robert through himself into the flames and up the stairs.

Once upstairs, he slapped out the flames that had begun to attach to his clothing. He rushed over to the small group and removed his blade from his sheath and the cloak from around his face. Quickly, he cut his cloak into strips and tossed it to the others. "Wrap this around your mouth and nose. It'll help keep the smoke out." he said as he recovered his face with a strip of cloth, covering his nose and mouth.

Their options were limited. he looked around for a window. At this point, with the stairs in flames and probably giving out, they would most likely have to jump if they could and hope for a soft landing. If there was a window there, he'd use his sword to bash it out.

As Robert began looking around and thinking of how to get the three others out, he noticed the ceiling starting to give way over Alisa and and the others.

No time to think, and less time to try and push them out of the way. As one of the beams loosed from the ceiling above, Robert rushed himself to position his body over them, knocking them to the ground if he had to. The beam struck across his back, causing the knight to drop to one knee and yell in pain. He gripped the flaming beam and, using all of his strength, tossed it to the side.

The floorboards where the beam landed were weak, causing that section to give out. Below them was the bar area. Perhaps a faster way out. Robert could feel blood seeping down from his right shoulder where a nail from the beam struck. He felt like his body was racked with pain from the blow, but he motioned for the others to come towards the hole. "Here...way out." Robert spoke, starting to breath heavily.

Alisa gasped, covering her houth with her hands in shock.

"Robert!" she cried, seeing blood run down his shoulder. Alisa went to support him, her strength returning for the time.

This is all my fault... This is all my fault... This is all my fault and I'm all to blame... I don't deserve the loyalty I've been given. is what flashed through her head, over and over.

"Robert, you're going first!" she said, watching for any more beams, cautionsly. "I can't have you hurt anymore. Everyone needs to get out." she said, now making a vow to herself. She would be the last one out of the building. No matter what, she had ti be the one to make sure evryone was out.

She looked over towards the stairs to see Cody, Celeste, and Ashton. She looked ahead to see the place where Caris was. She looked to her side where the, now injured, Robert was. There was also some other people. Robert, Michael, and Molly. She didn't know them all but Alisa felt responsable for this.

Robert shook his head to Alisa. "Don't worry about me. Get the kid and everyone out of here, and I'll be behind you all. It's my duty as a knight to make sure everyone gets out alive. Now, is this everyone?" Robert asked Alisa as he looked around. "Everyone, let's get the lead moving! This place is going down like a house of cards!" he yelled, pressing through the pain. He wasn't being macho, he was responding instinctual to that one knight's code: to be a sword for the meek and a shield for the weak. And right now, even injured, he had to be strong for everyone.

[And now to give everyone else a chance to catch up =P]

"Ah no wait!" Molly cried after Michael as she was dragged away. Kitcat stayed still in the middle of the floor while Dite ran out of the door with Molly. Mollys eyes lit up in terror when Kitcat didnt move. This smoke was very harmfull to cats. "LET ME GO!" she screamed at Gabe as she struggled to get free and Save Kitcat.

Kitcat was choking on the smoke that filled the room. "Gabe please!" she cried watching her best friend in the whole world almost dieing.

Standing outside the room, Steve starts towards the stairs, which are downh another hall from him. Reaching the intersection of the halls, he notices a group of people gathered around a doorway, looking past them he can see that the stairs are noe burning openly. Steve realizes that at the moment the only way out of this building is to jump from one of the windows... and dare a fall to the ground. Unable to think or feel anything, Steves lags give out under him, leading him to callapse against the wall and slide to the floor, this position at least got his head out of the smoke.

Sitting on the floor, leaning against the wall, steve can feel the structure shacking anf shifting as the fire burns the major beams. Unfortunately, Steve is no longer seeing a fire, in his mind he is looking out over his fathers farm, watching the barn as it slowly shifted and callapsed, falling on top of both his mother a father. Due to the nightmare playing out in his head, Steve lose all coherent control of his limbs, rendering him unable to move.

Unaware of himself or his actions Steve begings to cry, and scream for help.
