A childish superstition ( Kamal & Jordan black heart)

As Jordan looked upon the pond, she had to admit that the setting was tranquil. However, it wouldn't change her mind. All her life, she had heard of the Harvest Goddess and her sprites. And all her life, she believed in them as much as Father Christmas. Sure, it would be a nice thought to believe in an all-loving being who resides in ponds just like this, but Jordan knew better.



Although she felt this way, she still was drawn to the place like a bear to honey. 'Maybe if I stay long enough, I can prove that she exists!' Jordan thought desperately. Even though she knew it in her head not to be true, her heart tells her to keep faith that someone or something could love a person as worthless as she.

Kamal was angry, angry at the stupid dogs for attacking Kage, angry at Kage for running away but most of all, he was angry at himself for not helping Kage, Sighing he ran a hand through his hair as he looked around him. "I'm back in the forest eh?" Shrugging he took a random direction and started to walk, his tattered shoes hardly making any noise. Noticing a slight opening that had light coming through, Kamal walked passed it. As soon as he got out he hissed and shielded his eyes from the sunlight, it was extremely bright compared to the forest, a few seconds later after his eyes adjusted to the light, he looked around him. It looked like he was in a clearing with a pond and a..... girl? Shrugging Kamal walked over to the unknown girl. 'Maybe she knows where Kage is..' he hoped. When he was beside her, he raised his hand in greeting and said "Hello there."

When Jordan realised she wasn't alone, she decided to put off her spiritual quest until later. She was extremely embarassed to have obviously disturbed the young man, for his face was highly irritated.
Clearing her throat and standing up she finally responded; "I apologize. I didn't mean to bother you. This is probably your "spot" and I am intruding, am I not?" she said nervously. Of course she intruded! Jordan is always horrible.

Kamal looked at the girl who had seemed to have been deep in thought - But now her face was red from embarresment('Am I really so ugly that she is embarresed to be looking at me?'), - in puzzlement. 'My "Spot"? She must have jumped to conclusions because of how angry I was.' he mused. Shaking his head I replied to her comment "No no, this isn't my "Spot" as you put it, heck, I don't even know where I am!" he said in a deadpan.

Jordan sighed with relief. If she isn't intruding on the man, then can she stay? She still wasn't sure. Her train of thought was interrupted and because she turned around, she maybe has missed her chance. "Ah!" Jordan yelled in panic as she turned around, kneeled on all fours, and stared deeply into the pond.

Jordan realized how odd this musy look to a stranger, so she should explain; "I'm sorry that I will be staying and I know how odd this must be," she started,"But this is a Goddess pond, and I want to see if she exists.It is very important."Wait... did she just talk about religion to a stranger? That was a huge no no!
"I'm sorry!"she said without explaining why.

Kamal stared at the girl slightly bemused, she was most certainly weird. She seemed to keep apologizing at every turn, and she seemed to be slightly shy. Shrugging it off as a perk from her, he sat down heavily beside her, 'Might as well take a break.' When she started to explain what she was doing, he simply scratched his head in confusion and stated "Goddess Pond? What's that, and see if who existed?"

Jordan was taken aback. She thought everyone around here knew. 'Guess I thought wrong'she thought. "I'm sorry for your confusion. I'll explain; the goddess pond is a place where the harvest goddess takes offerings and might live. Legend says that the harvest goddess is a lady who, with help from Harvest sprites and king, supposedly watch over and protect the land." She tried to explain while being unbiased.
Jordan continued to stare into the clear, blue water. Thank Goddess she was patient.

Kamal was revolted at ho illogical that was, how could someone life in a pond of all things? Deciding not to say that he simply said "Eh, no need to sorry, it's my fault for not knowing who the Harvest goddess is." Sighing he looked around as he remembered why he was originally there. "Sorry, but have you seen a white fox around here? I've been loo- Oof" he was cut off mid-statement as something large and white slammed into him yelping, which just so happened to make him start to fall into the water, looking wide eyed at the pond as he fell closer to it, he lashed out for anything to grab onto. Unluckily(Or luckily depending on how you look at it.) he managed to grab onto the girl's arm.

"Aah!" she screamed as she fell into the pond. Jordan thought that when the minister said "make yourself a living offering to the goddess", this isn't what he meant.
It is a good thing she could swim, she had to be taught herself. (her father said it wasn't important)

When she resurfaced, she apologized to the young man; "I'm sorry! I should've been able to stay up. At least you didn't fall in." she said to him.
Wait, this was the perfect oppertunity to see what is at the bottom of the pond. She held her breath and dived under. When she was under, instead of being too dark to see, it wad too bright.

[Unsuccessful reply is late... and when I grabbed Jordan I meant for BOTH of us to fall in, seeing as I was already falling >__> Mind me fixing that?]



After Kamal grabbed onto the girl, he managed to stabilize himself for a few seconds, before he fell head first into the pond. The last thing he saw was a wide eyed fox looking at him. As soon as he fell in, he felt as if his heart stopped, then then couldn't even know where to reach to, for all he knew up could be down and down could be up. But it wouldn't even matter as he didn't know how to swim 'God darn it, I knew this would come to bite me in the butt!' Kamal thought in a panic as his blackness started to creep into the edge of his vision.


[Cue Jordan?]

{I was confused about if only Jordan or both fell in. I assumed the first. Sorry!}

With all the muffled sounds underwater, Jordan barely heard the boy fall into the pool of water. 'I take back what I said' Jordan thought. Oh well, what is getting wet? He'd be fine.

But as Jordan saw the boy flailing and struggling to resurface, she found herself taking back what she said and swimming to his rescue. She had seen a lifeguard do it. All she had to do was pull him out and punch him in the chest a couple times. It was the "pull out" step that she was stuck on. She could barely get herself out, but another person? It looked bleak. 'If I kill him and come back a murderer, I'll never forget myself!' Jordan thought as she felt herself losing breath, ' This is supposedly your pond, harvest goddess! So be a good host and help me!' She prayed. And like that, lifting was strangely easier, she finally got their heads above water and gasped for breath. "Thank you! she mumbled as she started to tug the boy onto shore.

Step two was commencing. Jordan frantically pounded at his chest hoping for some sort of breath to be taken in. Wasn't there some special way they hit? Jordan recalled so and kept at it. "Come on!" she yelled,"Breathe already!"

Kamal's eyes snapped open, automatically choking on the water collected in his throat. Getting up quickly he started to cough and hack up globs of water onto the ground. Looking up after he finished, he started to speak but his normally spiky hair was matted down to cover his eyes. Huffing he moved the hair out of his eyes and looked at the girl gratefully. "Thank you! I really owe you one for that, I can't swim for the life of me, literally!" he said quietly. Then looking around, he saw a guilty looking Kage standing a few feet away. Sighing he gestured for him to come closer, as soon as he got close to me I grabbed him and put him into my lap, not letting him go in fear of him getting scared off again.

Jordan sighed heavily with relief. "Thank goodness you are alright"[b]She said, still shaking from all the excitement(terror) caused by saving his life. She hadn't noticed, but apparently hot tears mixed in with other droplets of water on her face,[b]"I'm so happy you didn't die" she muttered as she looked back at the pond,'Maybe she's real after all. I know I couldn't have done it alone.' She thought hopefuly.
Composing herself and turning to meet the survivor, calm with a pet in his lap, she felt a pang of jealousy. In the face of life and death, and he isn't distressed. That is a person Jordan will never be. "I'm sorry" she said instinctively. She hadn't done any wrong that she knew of, but she probably did.

Kamal felt his heart settle down and stop trying to burst out of his ribcage after a few minutes of softly petting Kage. He thought he saw a look of slightly jealous look on her face, but he quickly dismissed it as his imagination, after all, who would be jealous of him of all people? He then heard the girl apologize yet again. Glancing up at her in puzzlement, "Sorry? What'cha sorry for, you saved my life!" he said incredulously.

"I'm sorry" she said again, "For saying sorry when I didn't need to."
Jordan always was sorry for somethiing. Her first words were mama, but mother joked that her second was "Sorry".
Jordan looked at the boy calmly petting the animal. It was a nice picture. Even though he was soaking wet and getting the animal wet with every stroke, they seemed to balance out with their pressence. Maybe Jordan needed a pet. Maybe if she wasn't horrible at everything she did, she would get one.
"I'm sorry, but what's your name?" she asked cautiously.

Kamal's eye twitched in slight annoyance when she apologized again. 'Could you even be sorry for the air you breath? She really needs to lay off on the sorrys.' he mussed. Snapping into reality when he saw the girl's mouth open to talk. Listening quietly, he narrowed his eyes slightly, 'Should I give her my name? If I do, she might know who I am...' he thought over it for a few seconds before deciding. "My name's Kamal, and this is Kage." he said gesturing at his fox. "May I get your name please?"

Obviously, Jordan annoyed the boy, Kamal. But deciding that her constant apologizing was the cause, she thought it in her head. That works!
Who would ever want to know her name? Well, a lot of people here. Back home, people had a name for her for every day of the month. None were "Jordan", so it felt strange to have people address her like that.
"Jordan. That's my name" she said quietly.

((Dear god!))

Kamal stared at the girl, Jordan, silently. Shaking his head in amusement, he said "Well, looks like I don't have to ask you where Kage has been anymore, do you need a escort out of her or something, it's the least I could do for you."

Jordan shook her head and denied the man's offer. She got herself here, it wouldn't be difficult to get home. Besides, she felt like staying. She had to thank the Harvest Goddess for what she had done for her. There was no doubt in her mind that she was real now, so she wanted to take her time here.
"I'm sorry, Kamal. But I'd like to stay here a bit longer. It was nice meeting you, though" she explained.
