It's a Bit of a Mystery {Reserved--Dylan & Ari}

It was maybe an hour or two past noon and there the red head sat in a far corner, quietly looking over descriptions of books he had never heard of before. Not many caught his eye but he was still set on finding a new book, whether it be on mystery or something else. Ari sighed lightly, looking up from the current book he held in his hands and glanced around the immediate area, looking for a familiar face that said that she would meet him there. His eyes dropped back down towards the book, scanning over words, and thumbing through the pages. That's when he found something of interest, perhaps. "Sherlock Holmes?" He quietly murmured to himself. Sure, Ari had heard of the famous fictional detective, but he never actually took interest in his stories. His brows pressed together as he scanned a random page or two. It was definitely interesting in it's own.

Dylan ventured into the library, where she planned before to meet Ari. She searched around the shelves looking for her friend. There were countless books everywhere, each a different size and color. As she wondered to the back of the library she noticed Ari was paging through a book unaware of her presence, so she snuck up behind him and covered his eyes with her hands. "Guess who?" she said with a little ring in her voice.

As he was reading a page, a pair of hands quickly covered his eyes, and a voice chimed in by telling him to guess who. He sighed, "I'm terrible at guessing games." He spoke--there was a hint of a whine. But in the voice, Ari could tell it was a female and he smirked, "Is it..." He paused, "Dylan?" He questioned, waiting for her to let go of his eyes to see if it was correct or not.

"Yep," Dylan said congradulating him by removing her hands from in front of his face. She giggled for a second before saying, "Hello Ari." She was excited that she ran into him here, even though he said this was were he'd be. The fact was that she didn't forget that made her happy though. She curiously peered over his shoulder to get a look at the book he was holding. She couldn't see what he was reading though, "What are you reading?"

He was correct--Ari grinned victoriously with a smirk toying his expression. There was a feeling of relief and a bit of happiness, she remembered that he was going to be there at the library that day. "Hello to you as well, Dylan." He replied, not turning towards her just yet. He perked up a brow at the sound of her curiosity, "Sherlock Holmes." He merely answered back, "It seems like a pretty interesting tale." He continued. "Do you know it?" He questioned her, glancing over his shoulder towards her.

"Sherlock Holmes," Dylan said pondering aloud. The name sounded familar to her, she knew he was a main character in a story she had read before. She knew there were a bunch of short stories and novels about Holmes and she once read one for school. "Umm...," she thought. "Isn't one of the stories about him called The Adventure of the Gloria Scott?" Dylan wasn't exactly sure though, because she never was good at remembering things like that or literature at all. She couldn't even think of the author too when she should have known it.

Ari waited for her answer as he quietly thumbed through a few more pages; he nodded at her inquiry. "I believe so." He answered in a soft murmur. "I've never had the full amount of patience to read these books anyway." He continued, closing the book with a soft chuckle. He quietly returned it to the self and turned towards the girl, who had still been standing behind him. "So, how are you today, miss?" He questioned her.

"Same here," Dylan admitted. She wasn't that into reading anything besides cook books and other instruction books. Otherwise she typically ignored them, unless she was forced to. When Ari asked how she was, Dylan smiled and replied, "Great. I didn't get lost on the way here." This was a milestone for Dylan. Usually she ended up getting lost going to unfamilar places, but today she got lucky at ended up at the right place the first time. "What about you?"

So they had something in common, Ari nodded, taking a mental note of this. He really wasn't much of a book reader anyway. The red head grinned at her answer, "Very good! Congratulations." He laughed weakly, "I'm proud of you." He added. He merely shrugged his shoulders, "I'm pretty well, thank you." He raised his hand and motioned to the books, "I've been having a little problem though." He began, "I can't seem to make up my mind on anything."

Dylan giggled a little when Ari congradulated her. For some odd reason she felt her sense of direction was getting a little better for some odd reason, to her it must have been a way of growing up. Maybe one day she'd seem more adult like to people, like Ari. The thought made her smile as Ari explained his problem. "What kind of book do you want then?," Dylan asked ready to help him out. She already had begun to scan the shelves looking for something that was intresting or she knew.

Ari felt a smile creep on his face as she giggled at his remark. At her question, he merely shrugged his shoulders, "Well, any kind of book now." He began, "Something that sparks the interest right from the very beginning." He continued. He curiously watched her as she looked through the shelves of books, "You know anything like that?" He questioned.

Dylan stoped looking at the shelves and closed her eyes to think. She remembered reading a good book her senior year in school about a society where some could sleep and others had an ablity where they didn't need it. Something about genetic engineering. "Ummm..." she said attempting to recover the title from her memory. "How about Beggars in Spain? It has nothing to do about beggars or Spain though. By someone with the last name Kress or Kross, I think."

She stopped in her tracks, which made the male a bit curious. His reaction as he slowly walked over to her, standing to the side of her. Ari listened to her words, he mindlessly puckered his lips in thought, he nodded weakly. "Sounds interesting enough. Do you know what it's about or shall I look for it on the shelves?" He offered in a soft tone.

"Since it was about the future and genetics it might be science-fiction," she said thinking about it more. If she knew the library better she could probably find it herself, but the truth was that she didn't. "If I remember correctly, some people don't need to sleep so they can work better than normal humans in it. It might be good if we look for it though, I can be very forgetfull about things like this."

Ari hummed in amusement, "Sounds good." He smiled weakly, he glanced down at the girl, "Shall we?" He spoke up before moving away towards the science-fiction section of the library, something where he had no idea was. "I'll trust your word though." He spoke, beginning to look through various shelves for the so-called book. His hands were stuffed into his pocket.

"We shall," the girl said happily. She followed Ari to the science-fiction section like a puppy following its master. Dylan looked at the shelves opposite at him to cover a larger range of books between the two of them. Unlike Ari putting his hands in his pocket, Dylan searched using ther left index finger to point at the titles of each book. Her left hand glided smoothly through the books. "Any luck yet?" she asked seeing if he made any progress at all.

Ari chuckled softly and continued to look through the various books, "Sadly, not yet." He responded, though it sounded more like a mumble than an actual response. "What about by you? Find anything?" He returned the question back to her. Who would of thought that trying to find a book would be so troublesome? "If there is no luck, then I'll live without it." He chuckled softly.

"No, not yet," she replied solemly. They both ended up not finding it, but then Dylan saw a ray of hope. She had found the authors with the last name that starts with the letter 'k.' "Don't give up yet," she said. "I found the 'k' section." She began to look for the 'kr' part of the section she had found in hopes of finding the book. To her dissapointment there were a lot of authors with names that started with 'k.'

A moment of curiosity passed through the mind of Ari as his brows pierced together and he pivoted on his heel to begin a little stride towards the woman while she spoke of her findings. To his amusement, there were apparently a plenty amount of authors who's last name began with the letter 'k.' He removed one hand from his pocket and ran it through his hair, moving it from his view as he began his search as well through the section. "All of this for a single book." He mumbled under his breath as he glanced once towards the girl before turning back towards the books, "Thanks for helping." He spoke up.

Dylan giggled at Ari's remark as she looked through the section. She did agree with what he said though, they were searching a lot for one book. It seems like it takes forever to look through such a large section of books for one book, but it must be faster with two people searching for it at the same time. "It's no problem," Dylan replied to Ari's 'thank you.' It didn't bother her that much looking for the book, plus she didn't mind giving Ari a hand.

Strangely enough, Ari was growing bored of searching this section for a book that only sounded a little interesting. He huffed and sighed, "At this rate, I could have spoke my own story." He chuckled weakly, "Thank you for suggesting it, but I think my mind has changed, yet again." He spoke out, sticking his hand against his forehead. Blast him and his short cravings! He turned towards the girl, "Is there anything you would like?" He questioned her.

"It'd probably be more intresting if you did tell a story," replied Dylan. She thought Ari was the kind of perosn who would be good at telling a story better than a book, afterall books were so boring to the girl. She was surprized when he asked her if she wanted anything. Nothing came to mind though, but she felt like she had to say something. "Cook books," she said, but it kind of sounded like a question.

Ari let out a weak laugh, "It probably would have been too." He shrugged his shoulders with a tiny smile. Maybe he would write a story one day, but thy both would have to wait for that day to come. He let out a tiny chuckle at the sound of her answer, "You really like cooking, don't you?" He questioned, though it sounded more like a statement, "Either way, you are very good at it."

"Yep," Dylan said almost immediatly. "My dream is to own my own resturant." She always wanted to be a good cook, she loved it so much. Ever since she was little she had the dream of openning a resturant, but you had to have money to do it and she lacked that. "I try my best," Dylan said bashfully. "There are so many good cooks out there and I want to be one of them. What about you?"

Ari hummed, "Really? I hope when you get your dream, that I will be your first customer." He flashed her a quick little smile, which faded as she questioned him about what he wanted. "Well, I'm sure you be one of the best, if not the greatest, Dylan." He responded, "But me?" He restated the question, "Well, I don't really know." He mumbled, "I guess... I guess I've always been a man of the arts, and my tool is my camera..." He paused, "I suppose I would love to be a photographer." He told her, "To be able to capture the moment, to have it and treasure it forever." He mumbled.
